Brewmaster Stagger

I played a brewmaster monk in BFA, and I feel like stagger is supposed to be a core part of out kit. but unless your raiding or semi-deep mythic+ your stagger RARELY ever fills up, you can pretty much ignore iron-skin/purifying brew for 90% of the time and for most content.

It felt like a real let down most of the time that my core flavor abilities were never needed and had 0 effect. I was just left with 3 useless buttons unless i was raiding.

It was plently fun and usefull while raiding, sure. But I think it would be nice if it could have more of an involved part of your questing and solo content somehow.

Pull ever mob in an area

It’s a thing for all tanks and their active mitigation. They don’t really need it out in the world where mobs don’t hit hard enough.

I really only hit Shield of the Righteous because it does damage, and I generally don’t need Light of the Protector.

It’s a problem of if mobs actually DID hit that hard out in the world, everybody would need a group to do anything.

and it wouldn’t feel good if they intentionally crippled tank durability outside of dungeons/raids just to get them to use their active mitigation more when doing solo world content.

Out of all my tanks. Brewmaster is the one that feels the most meh. Stagger really doesnt seem like much unless your purposely trying to kill yourself

Ironskin Brew allows 30% more damage to be put on Stagger. Without it, you’re taking an unnecessary amount of extra damage the healer shouldn’t have to deal with.

With Purify, it really only works when large amounts of damage are coming in frequently to allow 50% of damage that you’re staggering to be delayed removed from Stagger. A lot of frequent small damage is one of BrM weaknesses.

Most times, you are right you won’t be needing purify very much outside of upper tier content. You should always be using Ironskin Brew though and it is noticeable when a BrewMaster is using it or not from a healer perspective.

This is all getting destroyed and dumb down significantly in ShadowLands.

It’s just a really fun mechanic when you need to use it, but I’m not in particularly good gear (430ilvl) and I run say Motherlode on heroic, and granted its low low level content.

But i do the run to the first boss in 2 pulls, and my stagger never hits yellow. I would just like to see it be a usefull button to push more often than raiding.

And in the open world forget it, I can’t pull enough mobs to hit yellow ever.

It’s been like this since i was lvl 110 too, unless im raiding or mythic+ it just doesnt fill.

because things doesn’t hit you enough. Your passive self heal + healer heals is enough to keep it below the line. Try running some much harder content. There are some runs where I can’t purify enough or even keep myself on high stagger

If you don’t purify your damage, then you’re doing it wrong, just saying.

Your healers don’t like you.

Like everyone else is saying, you definitely need it in higher content.

But even in lower content you should keep stagger low if you have extra charges available. I normally pop a brew around 20 just to help the healers out.

You’re just doing such low and trivial content that you don’t need your defensive. Early in the xpac, you might have built up some stagger on heroic bosses, but at this point everything lives, what, five seconds? You’re not going to need your defensive if nothing can even hit you.

I know how to play my class, the point is there is nothing to purify. Blackout kick’s azerite gear bonus clears it to more than 0, and it’s only cleaing 4-5k stagger ever 4 seconds

I’ve been playing for 10+ years, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a complaint from a healer, only compliments.

Like IVE been saying, its fine in raiding and mythic+ yes. The point I’m making is it’s the classes identity and should feel somewhat useful in more content.

I don’t think any of you even played a tank monk, or even know what your talking about. WTH

I just checked your raider io. Are you sure that you even play a monk tank?

You have no M+ or raid progression. So what exactly have you been monk tanking?

another constructive comment. yes i have.

The monk tank is the only one that drinks to ignore pain!

Is an alcoholic!

Didn’t realize tanking through every piece of content wasn’t tanking. I really wonder what the heck I’ve been doing this whole time…

Unlike you, she has done 12/12 heroic and over 40 mythics. I have a feeling she knows what she is talking about.

yes and no. If you’re trying to phrase sometimes it’s ok to keep your stagger level high.

Well, if you’re ignoring ISB then that definitely plays into why your stagger isn’t filling much.

You’re missing 30% of potential stagger of each hit that you take that isn’t magic.

As a healer I’d be annoyed at you.

I was pretty pleased with Stagger & Purify when I was tanking Mythic Ra-Den recently. That bar filled up real fast.
