From a casual perspective: Not fun. It’s fast paced for sure and that is interesting.
But I find Windwalker and Mistweaver way more fun to play because they actually make sense from a class standpoint, and the abilities are cool. But brewmaster feels obnoxious.
Throwing beer pots to generate aggro…hmmm. Maybe it could have an alternative, a talent, just so the abilities are derived only from Ox Statue or the kung fu moves. Or a light shield of some sort.
Compared to the other tanks:
Warriors/Paladins: plate armor + big shields
DH: Demon form and spells
DK: Big weapon and blood spells
Druid: Big bear claws and armor
Brewmasters have a staff or polearm they just don’t use in combat. It’s just kegs!
I have kinda started messing around with Brewmaster. I honestly am not a fan of hurling kegs because it doesn’t make any sense. Where are these kegs coming from? I like Breath of Fire but that is kind of like the monk taking a sip off a flask, so that works. One thing I will say (and it applies to other classes as well), is that abilities that are shared across specs should function the same exact way. Things like Spinning Crane Kick and Rushing Jade Wind should use the same resource (if any) by all monk specs and not cost Chi for just Windwalkers.
LET US GLYPH BACK BLACKOUT STRIKE AND USE WEAPON ANINATIONS WE ARE BEGGING YOU BLIZZ
Replace your blackout kick button with this:
/castsequence reset=4 blackout kick, tiger palm
(I’m on my phone, cant double checking everything is correct)
This puts tiger palm behind blackout kick so you can only use it once every 4 seconds, which is roughly how often you should be using it for brew reduction. It also saves you an extra button spot. Because in shadowlands blackout kick is no longer reduced by haste, the reset will always be 4 and doesnt need adjustment.
You can hide weapons in Brewmaster. Just need to use two 1h. Likewise WW that uses a staff/pole cannot hide their weapon.
As to my opinion of the class itself I love it. Throwing beer and literally setting your enemy on fire? What an awesome way to keep aggro.
Further to that I particularly enjoy NF Brew because of the positional gameplay changes. Gives me something fun to do as I’m keeping up celestial (and does quite a lot of damage!).
i know alot who love throwing kegs its better designed than most tanks in the fun department idk i guess they need to add at least 3 options to appease everyone another deal not everyone can be happy but alot are.
