I’m really enjoying the removal of Tiger Palm via the Press the Advantage talent.
My question is: the Shado-Pan Hero tree seems to clearly favor spending energy as fast as possible in order to proc Flurry Strikes. Given that the Press the Advantage passive removes Tiger Palm from the rotation, it seems like there isn’t a way to properly spend energy to justify taking this talent if specced into Shado-Pan.
I haven’t done the math so am just looking for confirm on whether Shado-Pan is out of the equation if I’m hard sold on using Press the Advantage. Thank you for any insight!
It’s been mentioned in other threads, but what you described is part of the problem of the hero talents. Instead of being just an extra “layer” to whatever your build might be for your talent tree it, actually “pushes/forces” you to pick certain base talent tree builds because it favors certain skills or talents over others.
So basically what will/is going to happen is people will unlock and level their hero talents, but at max level they will have to pick things in reverse: choose a hero talent tree, and then choose the talents that support it.
In short: the hero talents are going to dictate the talent tree and not in any good way. If there is not a hero talent tree/pick that you like with what you might want to build out of your base talent tree well… you kinda screwed.
What should have been done with Press the Advantage taking the place of tiger palm is that each hit of Press the Advantage has a chance to proc effects that would trigger from Tiger Palm.
Instead you get 1 proc (which i’m not even sure it’s 100%) of anything hooked to Tiger Palm when you use the ten stacks from press the Advantage for the bonus attack.
ShadoPan does not need any changes for Press the Advantage. That first node needs a full rework to not suck for both specs just like everyone pointed out months ago… It was an obvious issue to many who saw the talents before the alpha.
The very first node is the source of the majority of the issues. A stacking buff that is passive which allows a proc that is triggered passively. For some bonus wth? they added some other buffs that require using the proc quickly multiple times even though we can’t really control it without some really bad gameplay going on.
if/when harmony gets buffed, this will be a non issue. that spec works just fine without TP. shado pan wants tiger palm for reasons beyond just the energy spent as well. tiger palm is REALLY strong this expansion.
tl;dr if they buff your capstone & buff the other hero tree, you’re in the clear.
