Brewmaster needs a rework

I switched form Brew to bear because I am tired of being near the bottom of tanks (because of damage or Mit or both). Its just always easier to switch and do higher keys with an easier and better tank flat out. I have been playing this game since 2008 and The level of basic tank changes is awful compare to dps/healers. Brew need a flat rework, Stagger balance is stupid and always end up getting nerf. I love brew really do! But its has needed help form tier or X to be on pair to others than they still better with X

Their mastery is outdated and boring as hell. Its needs to matter. Oh look more dodge YAY! Have it increase CB amount and time?!?

Have crit increase dodge like bears (Lighting Reflexes: You gain Dodge equal to 100% of your Critical Strike form gear)

Have better tanky and dps talents. OS and WoO is just boring TBH

have an talent that let us have chance dodge hard cast spells?? They don’t always have to hit…DND rules.
or use The damm Ox pet as way to push more damage like before or become strong as an ox for an time?

If they want the drunken master fancy than

keep shuffle as it is passive

Have Stagger build as drinking brews. The same way but you want it high to reduce more damage. The gameplay is keep it up while it delaying down, with hits and slowly delays. having break points that gets smaller/bigger with agi.

10%-20% increase dodge/reduce damage taken by %
30%-70% Increase self healing/ celestial brew absorb by 25%
71%+ increase damage and reduce damage by %

I know it bare bones but most of the spells and talents would work basically the same.

you could also have talents to fit the ox fancy with ox stance without being weird and being an actual be understandable and move the break points where you could be more baseline tanky and be a good capstone…

That’s true, brewmaster should have better mitigation. Period.

Even prot paladin, other bottom of the tanks , is getting some tree changes and couple of buffs. (Although word of glory build makes no sense) but at least they are trying.

Brew looks like forgotten

Brew is an endgame tank. Early xpac we always suffer a bit.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we are broken by the end of the expansion with our hero talents but it also wouldn’t surprise me if we still suck

Do agree we need a rework

I’d like brewmaster to be reworked as well.

I love stagger it’s such a cool mechanic but I wish it was stronger – you stagger more and for longer. Celestial brew and purifying brew are both fun abilities but celestial brew should be off the gcd imo.

I don’t like healing spheres or celestial fortune. Having a chance to heal or heal more isn’t that great for a tank imo. An absorb or partial absorb would be better for each of these mechanics. I’d remove healing spheres and make celestial fortune give you a partial absorb equal to a % of your crit of healing taken. And buff expel harm because of the removal of healing spheres.

The endgame shouldnt be the goal to be great. Most of the time we hit season 4 of an xpack yes we are good but theres always something that makes us so weaker to other tanks and always an step behind. Theres an tank that can do something better with less risk or gear needed or tier or X. Its a problem. We need an hard rework.

I like your post except this.

Without healing spheres, Monk has no recovery equivalent like FR (Druid) or IV (ProtWar). Maybe clarify, as Expel Harm uses spheres as a resource to increase the heal power, what would happen to Expel Harm without them?

They basically removed spheres already too by heavily nerfing their spawn rate and effectiveness (except for overcapping them), and this, combined with poor WoO design and balancing, majorly turned me off from brew this xpac.

Compared to WoG, 3+ EH seemed fine. So maybe the other tanks need nerfed. But my bear during incarn windows has free zcd FR and produces over 1m hps solo… I am sure DK is just as wacky. So why must EH/WoG be so bad?

The problem with our self healing is our CB being so weak and our healing orbs is not consistent enough and have to be low to have an talent do all the work to do anything. Aka (strength of spirt: Expel Harm"s healing is increase by up to 100% based on your missing health.)

We need an Hot that is on all the the time and we can increase it heavy for a few secs to pop us up. The Hot can be base on our max health x agi and its would give us more smooth hp bar for healers having the lowest hp of tanks.

I like stagger. I’d be fine with losing the orbs and cb if our expel harm would would heal us based upon stagger purged with purify brew. Celestial brew is either broken or not useful. Right now it’s barely useful.

I’d also like more damage. Maybe as our stagger grows we get beer muscles and hit harder. Adds a bit of complexity into leveraging stagger for DPS increase at the cost of healing by the healer. Or optimizing purifies for high reed stagger only.

I feel like we should be the clear cut high DPS tank with the complexity.

This.

Just let expel harm do some good healing on its own.

Stagger is apart of the overall problem on top of other problems. They need to rethink how stagger actually works because they keep nerfing it to the point it wont do anything.

we need to have better mit baseline and have the main goal to reduce damage with stagger than having it high to do more damage.

Have an bigger hp pool
Have healing orbs baseline increase healing on missing health

Our endgame feels good but we still end up as the bottom tank LOL. Idk why we don’t have a defensive that makes it so for the next 8 seconds damage reduced by stagger doesn’t accumulate into stagger.

we need a rework , we can take tank mechanics easily but we are horrible at consistent damage. for example, mythic Rash eats brews lol

I’m actually just gearing my blood that I’ve maimed for years and yeah look

Brew needs help

Even from a class design standpoint brewmaster has always been a sloppy mess of a dozen different visions and archetypes all mashed together, from the very beginning when MoP released. The spec can’t be fixed until they decide on a singular, clear cut vision for the class design. It seems like the original idea was the drunken master thing, which is fine, they just need to stick to that and cut out all the other stuff. Brewmaster is trying to be too many Shaw Brothers movie stereotypes at once and it just all falls flat.

its so true, never got a flat style. it borrows fom WW/MW so much and they put stagger there so you dont get oneshot.

it needs to be rethink and become that drunken master and be so dodgey its can dodge spells and range attacks. It needs a hard rework before it becomes another aug lol
