I mained gaurdian all last season to 414ilvl. Im considering switching to brewmaster, but I have a few concerns. that being said im compairing my 403ilvl monk with my druid.
with gaurdian Im able to heal myself quite easily with frenzied regen and kite +hots. I play alot solo tanking and I dont want to have to be super dependent on my healer where I cant keep myself alive. It does not seem like BM has any reliable self healing.
Im clearly doing something incorrect or missing something on my BM monk because watching high key brewmasters they seem to have higher HPS than healers on several pulls. How? im averaging 4.6k hps for the +2s im doing.
I like the concept of monk tanking but I feel like I’m playing on the most healer dependent tank. Is that true?
I’m strictly casual with my brewmaster, but the feedback I get is healers love monk tanks because the damage taken is smooth and predictable due to stagger.
The vast majority of current high end M+ brewmaster viability comes from the edicts of the faithless + bloodthirsty urchin trinkets. The first covers the general weakness against bursty magic damage while the second is essentially full uptime on a strong healing hot. Together you are far more self-sufficient and durable against both types of damage, not just physical.
If you don’t raid and don’t have access to either of these in a heroic/mythic raid quality form well the power and viability of brew goes way down in M+. You can still do your average +15 pug or whatever fine but those two trinkets play exceptionally well with the brewmaster design. In contrast something like a prot warrior can still dominate just fine in higher M+ keys with dungeon and/or mechagon trinkets.
You understand that this makes literally no sense, right? BrM using edict+urchin combo isn’t specific to monk, it’s legit great for every tank. Weakness to magic? You mean, every tank, right? High uptime on a strong heal? You mean, great for every tank, right?
And that trinket combo is the reason brm is pumping high m+? Man, then how’d they do it in season 1, almost a full year before these trinkets went live?
Part of the healing comes from Celestial Fortuned. Also Purifying brews i think also account for self healing as well at least on Healing meters such as details. If you purify 50% of 300K tick that is 150K heal technically. When you see the High end m+ streamers their stagger is going 100% or higher. Also Celestial Fortuned gives you a change = to Crit to heal you for an extra 65% so if a healer heals you for say 50K you have a chance to heal for an extra 65% of that
Um brew was no where near as strong in season 1, it was really only BDK in season 1 before the nerfs. Then warrior rose in season 2. But back in season 1 brewmaster was not as strong healing numbers wise as now.
Idk why you linked that, it proved what I was saying lol. That list contains nothing but bdks with 4 brewmasters in the first list, and its about the same the next few lists. There are also few warriors. But um nice troll reply, maybe actually look at the list before linking : ].
Brm were pushing the same content as bdk. Something being more popular doesn’t make it stronger. Like, literally what.
I literally don’t know what to say to this.
Popularity does not equate to capability. If they’re all pushing the same content, how can you justify saying in any respect that one or the other is better.
ive been playing brewmaster monk and been grinding this class out easy cause of stagger and some self heal talents such as.
Healing elixir, just heals your 15% of your health, very useful
Vivify is very powerful aswell, if you pull alot of mobs accidently, you can use rushing jade wind, stagger and vivify and you’ll beat them fine.
He’s an acquired taste. He does put out things factually, but also gives his arguments room to be debated. I feel people don’t appreciate his style of criticism. I don’t feel he’s always correct, but can have valid points.
I feel like I didn’t heal as much in lower keys because I didn’t take as much damage so I wasn’t spawning orbs at the same rate as I do in 15+ where I’m constantly competing with healers for hps
Point is any tank is viable BRM has had a few exploits that everyone took advantage up even after 8.3 nerf they will be good. They have great utility but they will need more healing from Healer after nerf. What matters is the player every tank completed a +23 key this season on raider io. If you are a scrub it doesn’t mater what tank your play your going to fail. So find what tank you like and learn the ins and out! I love brewmaster over My Prot warrior because Of play style. Granted only doing +10s and +11. Trellsky just did +21s on “ worst tank” lol guardian so no excuses git gud! Just my 2 cents
