Brewmaster complaint

I currently play every tank at a casual to moderate level. I have earned AOTC on them all and do mostly PUG mythic + groups in the 10-13 range depending on the tank. I’m sure I could do a 14-15 range if I applied myself but I really just don’t care due to no rewards after the 3000 rating point.

I feel like every tank has a solid feel. Some tanks “came on-line” faster as far as feeling better and gave me more confidence at a lower i-level, but at the 665+ mark (675-680 is GODmode) I feel fine tanking with all of them and timing the keys that are within my range.

The reason for this post is simple, while all tanks might be able to clear the keys, only ONE tank really feels like not having a solid niche nor identity, and that’s the brewmaster. Let’s do a very fast review.

Paladin: Insane utility (magic BOP, regular BOP, solo Immunity), ability to do very strong burst, huge interrupt windows on multiple targets, LOH, off-heals, battle rez and 3% group wide DR.

Warrior: Battle shout, Very strong AOE Damage, AOE stun (with knock-up), talented AOE silence/taunt, extremely tanky to physical damage.

DK: Best gather utility in the tank pool, Best self-sustain, Unkillable (unless my own massive error), strong disruption during fight, AMZ, AMS, battle rez. It’s funny by the way, because so many people talk crap about DK’s, but these are all streamers/high key people pushing 16-20 keys…for normal players that don’t care about high end keys, DK is probably the top tank for weekly keys.

DH: 2nd best gather utility, great sustain, best IN-fight control (this right here along with chaos brand is what makes them FOTM, the lock-down they can do is so good), good mitigation, chaos brand.

Druid: Unkillable (like DK), good in-fight disruption, battle rez, group mobility, very strong burst window. (this tank would be close to being in the Monk boat but they have one thing extra, MoTW buff). *A very boring tank though, but that’s besides the point.

Brew: Mystic touch, ROP, AOE stun, strong self-sustain on single target.

There is nothing exciting about Brew. I know we are getting a knock up on the OX in 11.2, but we have to give up numerous other talents for it. Meanwhile warriors get the knock-up very easily with shock-wave. No battle-rez. The off-heals are poor, and you have to give up your own survivability to give that off-heal to others. ROP is very situational. It’s not worthless but it’s also not better than other talents.

On top of all that, the damage is very sub-par. I always have issues in PUGs where I have to struggle with agro on pulls with DPS who don’t want to wait. Sure, I know that’s a “DPS issue”, but guess what, I dont have that issue on ANY other tank. ( I did on DH for a bit, but I think that seemed to be some BUG that seems to be resolved).
I hope devs read here, I wanted to provide feedback as a “PUG tank” on how I feel about brewmasters right now. I feel that tank balance is good in the 10-13 range. I Know at the high key range it’s not the same, but I don’t care about that, I’m not that target audience.

Thank you for your time.

As much as I love Brews, it’s definitely a lack luster when it comes to utility.
My Brew alt at 3k, as I’m not pushing further with 100’s of keys timed every season, I literally had a group leave the party last night once they saw a Brewmaster, despite the fact I can pretty much self-sustain without a healer.

If Brews got a Mystic Touch rework to be a bit more beneficial, as it doesn’t even come remotely close to DH’s counterpart, as well as a minor damage boost, we’d be in a much better spot.

Season 2 definitely feels far better in terms of self sustain than Season 1 did. I can’t even emphasize the difference enough.

You’ll have some clowns come here and tell you Brews are fine and cite #1-#10 world’s best Brews, that run with other equally top 0.000001% of the playerbase. But this is, obviously, not the case for the remaining 99%+ of the playerbase.

For more context, the other day I ran Cinderbrew 12 with a premade of 3.5+ IO group. We were 10s away from +++12 and average DPS was 5m+ for all 3 DPS, with VDH being 2.2mil, but we did CRAZY PULLS. Healer’s overall HPS was 750k…

750k

Meanwhile the very next Cinderbrew with random sub 3k pugs, we barely timed it with healer doing 1.8m HPS

So looking at top 0.00001% is like the dumbest thing anyone could possibly use an argument. Ignore those clowns

We do have a rework coming in Season 3, so we shall see how it feels playing Brew then. I’m interested in seeing how Flurry Strikes behaves in Season 3 as well, as I prefer Shado over MoH for several reasons.

TLDR

  • buff brew damage
  • Rework mystic touch, as it’s essentially useless now.

The knock up that does literally nothing unless a target is on full stun dr? Will have to see how things shake out, but I feel like prot warrior is going to get absolutely hosed in certain dungeons with spell block being removed.

I think we’ll be fine with 3-4 times the healing from fueled by violence and 10% extra magic DR from spell reflect.

Unless they start doing significant damage , they still really need something else. Maybe a battle Rez, or group mobility like a Druid . Maybe a group physical DR like a DK’s magically DR AMZ? Maybe a mass “clash effect “ for grouping……something!!!

I always thought they should get a giant bell drop like in Diablo, lol.

They have nothing special besides like you said mystic touch, and that’s not enough.

Black Ox could periodically cast interrupt with like 5s ICD! That’d be too OP tho

I mean paladin has massive interrupts all the time. The ox is a long cooldown

very true.
In Blizzard’s eyes, however, its one of those automatic things - so idk how’d they react to such a proposal.

But yeah, brews need something shiny and fun.

Honestly tho, even a simple Mystic rework would go a long way.
x2 RoP CDs would be big for keys too.
Ox statue threat could be increased a tad if they wont give us extra threat modifiers.

I wish Shadopan reduced Celestial Brew CD a bit too tho.

Are we?..

No one will take this.

Fairly spot on though. It’s just fun to play for some.
