Brew question!

Hopefully not asked recently.. or ever, but brewmasters, what is Expel Harm meant to do exactly? my 80 brew isnt getting much healing from it at all, it says 747 hp of healing. Am I doing something super wrong here?

It automatically picks up all your healing spheres. Thats where the heal comes from. It will show how many you have available in the tool tip(1-5)

If you are looking for more healing make sure you take vital flame. You can even try master of harmony for 2 charges of celestial brew, but the vast majority of the healing comes from the new capstone talent empty buckets or whatever they’re called. The ability is called refreshing drink and it heals you + 2 others for a buttload. You basically spam the empty buckets by resetting the CD with either celestial infusions(guaranteed) or purifying brew(rng) or fortifying brew(guaranteed)

Throw in a black Ox brew, that gets reduced like all your other brews, and you are constantly getting empty buckets and refreshing drinks

If you havent gotten to 90, sadly you won’t have this talent since its the last point in the apex talents

Damn. my tank’s at 83 rn, but thanks! Great to know. : D I was following an icyveins for it, but that’s pretty nice to know overall. I was struggling a lot with healing as i was going.

Edit- First off is this open world or in dungeons with a dedicated healer?

This is my monk. All of the guides will tell you to play shadow pan so you can aoe down huge packs with keg smash → breathe of fire spam

This might work best in leveling dungeons, but im using more of a hybrid with master of harmony with some dps talents

It seems to do abt the same dps overall for me and I feel like its easier to heal yourself on since you have 2 celestial infusions and you also have better single target. Maybe it’s more fun because its higher apm and I have a lot of haste gear, but I came from playing a prot paladin so I enjoy it :]

I’ve actually been on master of harmony! (my monk hi) I should probably mess with some of the talents myself anyway. see what I can pull out of it. Any tips for master of harmony?

Drop niuzaos resolve. Idk why those guides recommend that but in my experience its horrible. Thats why your expel harm isn’t healing anything lol. I guess it’d be OK for a 10 minute raid fight but I tried it and it felt amazing when I swapped off it for the first time

Go ahead and swap Bob and weave for black ox brew. Not only does it help you do more dps by resetting all your brews, but its cd gets reduced every time you use TP or keg Smash

Id also swap awakening spirit for vital flame

Finally, tranquility spirit is ok for like a progression raid or whatever max defense build, but I think counterstrike would work better with blackout combo and Master of Harmony all stacking tiger palm damage

Everything else is kinda preference. I know fuel on the fire does a lot more damage than empty the cellar so id probably swap those around. I just dropped empty the cellar to get 2 points in walk with ox bc it did crap damage lol, and am gonna test that next

Gotcha! Thanks! Maybe now I’ll be effective! :_)

The guides are written that way because the math clearly plays it out. You are free to play however you want, but please don’t use feelycraft because you can’t understand why a talent is recommended.

Lmao, go to murlok. io and look how many brewmasters are using that talent…oh right 0

I said maybe in a 10 minute raide fight it’d be OK, but when you cant even last a whole minute attacking the tank target dummy while having it talented, its clearly not a daily driver type of talent

It heals for more, and is by far the better choice for beginners, people running 10s after being geared. Of course people running harder content don’t run it, because they need the on-demand healing when content gets harder.

Again, run what you want, but you clearly don’t even know the point of the talent. You’re a typical forum lemming who copies what you see (on sites like murlok) without even understanding why those people are doing what they’re doing.

Its only benefit is if the mob is alive long enough so if you generate more than 5 orbs they dont cap and get wasted, as their usual behavior is after 5 are out, if it goes to generate one it just auto consumes it. This makes the ones being auto consumed turn into a 10 sec hot rather than risk it trying to heal while your full hp

Again, no mobs in a dungeon or open world are going to be alive long enough for you to be sitting there overcapping on orbs :joy:

Edit- Also you said it heals for more…WRONG.

Normal orbs are affected by the class talent Strength of Spirit, while Niuzao’s Resolve one’s aren’t :joy:

Maybe you should watch a YouTube video on how the class works before trying to tell someone to l2p on a hidden alt?

The same guides telling prot pallies to take crit wings?

Crit wings? Dare I even ask.

Choice node for wings. Avenging wrath vs sentinel.

Both are +20% damage and healing. Sentinel adds damage reduction, AV adds critical chance.

Guess which one was recommended for tanks in the guides?

AV? somehow?

Yep, and it can make sense if you are going for max damage. But it shouldn’t be the default recommend build.

Guides are awesome but you still need to do some thinking.

I do think a lot of people/guides go “damage over all”, and forget the tanks need to… survive.

Because most people don’t play in content where they actually need the added damage reduction…. Thanks for proving my point though…

Generally I do prefer the damage reduction stuff, since i’d like to survive the fight instead of dying to my target, I don’t need all the big numbers when I’m just screwing around : D

The damage reduction is literally wasted when you’re, “just screwing around” that’s the entire point.
