We’ll have to see the greater details of how the housing system will function technically. However, I currently imagine that our houses will have accessibility features. For example, you go to a neighbor’s house, you see that little “golden gear” icon at their front yard gate. Says something like, “You don’t have access to this property” or something. I imagine when you’re working on your house, you’ll be able to set its accessibility status to something like, “Public / Friends / Private” or something.

So, to answer your question, I imagine you’ll be able to “break in” to someone’s home and look around only if they allow you to. However, you likely will have no power to make edits to their home or anything anyway. Maybe if there’s guild housing or some system in place there, depending on your privileges, you can ransack a guild house and steal everything before gquit and disappearing. However, that’s probably not even something on their radar atm.

I can only imagine it in Sims style. Would be funny seeing a Troll breaking into another house and two guards show up to arrest you.

I am fine with people coming on in. I am a very welcoming cow. :dracthyr_nod:

You might not be able to leave and you might become part of the decor but hey, that’s life.

(jokes aside, I do hope people can visit our houses and see what we’ve come up with. Maybe without a specific invite, you can look around but the owner won’t see you?)

Final Fantasy 14 had controls where you could limit entry. Free Company houses could be toggled to members only, and personal houses could be toggled to friends only.

I imagine this will likely be the same deal.

Besides, ya come up in my humpty-bumpty uninvited, ya ain’t leavin’ without some extra holes. I got my shotgun transmog ready to go.

  1. Mark a runestone in front of the stairs of the house.
  2. Drop a bag of flour in front of the stairs of the house on the same location you set the mark on the runestone
  3. Cast moongate using your marked rune
  4. Walk into the moongate
  5. You should now be under the house. Move in any direction and the game will glitch you to the correct Z level, which is in the house.
  6. Rob at will, Kal Ort Por your way out.

It’s been about 30 years since I’ve done it so I could be off but iykyk

I’d imagine people can’t just enter anyone’s home whenever they want.

No boots on in my home!

If you want to break in that’s fine, but tracking mud is another story.

Oh memories!

“What do you mean I should add a door to my house? A door? Those things found in dungeons that sometimes require a key that drops from a specific monster? Who do you think I am? Nefarian?”

It’s impossible to break into my house, the entrance is wide open.

:smirk: It’s finding the exit that you’ll have trouble with.

Uhh… maybe get a priest to levitate you before entering.

I think it’s going to be like the Garrisons, everyone will have their own instance unless invited or in the neighborhood which is also like an instanced thing but of guild members houses? This whole thing has inspired me to buy the entire Sims collection bundle!

I Home Alone’d myself yesterday stepping out the front door after the ice storm the night before. I just laid there for a bit.

I hope that it’s like LoTRO housing. Yards are ‘public’, but the inside of homes are not. You can set the door as allow anyone or just specific folks/groups.

You can also allow interactions with the right permissions. I loved seeing how folks decorated if they set their house to allow.

Yards were great for showing things off to the neighbors. You could get guards or guard-dogs for your yard, some crafting tables, etc.

I would decorate for the holidays, and they had a trick-or-treat quest for the neighborhoods too that’s always fun.

What do you plan to steal exactly?

My 1600lb sectional rock sofa?

The bowl of fruit?

My cat? She’ll eat you out of house and home, you’ll learn the hard way, just like I did.

Good luck with the sofa, team lift bro.
