BRD itemization

Why did Blizz change HoJ to drop from Angerforge? With the other itemization changes (Gladiator Chain dropping, etc.), there is essentially no reason for DPS to want to run the end of the dungeon. And getting groups as a healer for the 7 Dwarves or Emp/Moira is nearly impossible.

I can understand them wanting to balance things better so that every role has a reason to run part of a dungeon, but why purposely balance it worse?

The way they explained it I believe is that some instances are using earlier loot tables (like BRD) due to the strength of some of the gear dropped there in later patches. Rather than editing the data of he loot tables to change drop rates to compensate for the removed items, they just used the old loot tables.

I don’t think you understand. DPS used to run the end of BRD to get Hand of Justice from Emp. Blizz now changed it to drop from Angerforge, who is at the beginning of the dungeon.

This is a change they made specifically for Classic to my knowledge.

Now no DPS want to kill Emp. Or even tanks because Warrior tanks would often need HoJ.

Uh I understand exactly what they did. It has nothing to do with balance, and was just done by Blizz as a matter of convenience. Rather than having to tweak the drop rates to compensate for the removal of items added in 1.10 and what not, they just used the dungeons earlier drop tables. It was purely because it was easier for Blizz.

Earlier drop tables? Since when did HoJ ever drop from Angerforge?

Every patch prior to 1.10.

This isn’t a change specifically for Classic. They’re using the pre-1.10 loot tables until later on(phase 5 I believe is when it changes to post-1.10 loot tables).

Oh I didn’t know that. But there are other changes like Savage Gladiator Chain having the updated (1.10) stats and for example the OP green items, etc. that trivialize the end of the dungeon for DPS.

I suppose they originally changed it to balance it and now that they reverted, it has now become very imbalanced especially with the updates they did keep.

It’s a weird thing they did. The stats are all 1.12, but the drop locations are all pre-1.10 right now.

Or if it simply didn’t drop until 1.10 you can’t get it right now, like relic slot items for Paladins. Druids, and Shamans.

It’s because Blizz doesn’t want to touch the data. This has been central to their philosophy.

They did agree that the added items from 1.10 were clearly much stronger than their contemporaries which is why they used the earlier drop tables (they don’t have to touch the 1.12 drop tables that way).

Well warriors still want emp. Need that Ironfoe.

i will still be going to emp for chance at ironfoe

It’s always reserved by the tank. So you can get a tank (sometimes) and a huge queue of healers needing to run it with no dps.

This is the thing that’s the problem.

To quote wild Bill from Deadliest Catch - “Attitude makes the difference”

People need to forget their Refail ways when playing Classic, you NEED others to do things. Helping others do their things, means they will want to help you do YOUR things.

Instances are an opportunity to form new bonds with people you’ve grouped with. If people insist on selfish attitudes like “I have no reason to go there, there’s no loot I need” they will continue to have a poor game experience. This is where Refail and Vanilla / Classic differ greatly.

I guess i havent found this to be the case but i guess its a different perspective being a healer instead of the tank.

The still run emp run since emperor has a higher drop rate for hoj. Maybe your server just sucks.

Hmmm yeah I found that out recently. I think that melee would just rather do arena/angerforge runs and that’s the issue. Even with the lower drop rate.

Try to get an Ironfoe farm group going and only take casters. Tanks will love you and you might be able to get multiples runs out of it.
