I know is brawl is not new anymore but I was just curious if this is a common strategy. Last game I managed to cap 3 flags by ressing on my body the moment everyone goes up. The first one I let them kill me gravity was about to be interrupted so they had little time to take my insignia. The last one was even more awesome because despite when going to win anyway, the game started with my capping. I died in mid, ghost run to my corpse hoping then not removing my insignia, which they didn’t and as soon as people flyght I ressed and capped the flag. 
But to the point: Is this any “new” or it is an old trick?

Good one! Generally only works early in game with short corpse timer.
My main strategies:
Goblin glide toward a close base, then sprint (or whatever your fast move spell is) stand under an arch to avoid gravity lapse. If two people do this each side, fast cap.
Other players should gravity to the enemy bases and 4 cap. Flag can’t be placed if no bases.
While in gravity, if enemy has flag, land on him or a gray base, if none, an enemy base.
Alway need to have some mid to prevent other team from capping. But it is too often that 3/4 of the team is mid and don’t properly cap bases.
Other strategy needed for alliance is to wait until good gear before doing random PVP so that you can carry the team. Otherwise automatic alliance loss mainly due to low gear.
It’s good, but I find that people are usually very quick to loot insignias. Could be they hate me because I’m spamming greater pyroblasts at them.
There are places you can hide in mid to not get launched and get an early start on flag.
There’s a rock at mid, horde side I think, you can clip your character under and not fly up.
During gravity lapse, everyone goes up but you, you get the flag easy peasy.
Using “Ripple in Space” right before the jump will put you right back on the ground while everyone is still in the air.
My new thing is to get a F Mage low and then mirror a Gpie (which they are spamming Non stop) with CS and watch them die on their own sword.
