i love everything about that rant, OP. nothing-- and i mean nothing-- causes me more rage than that short little… twerp… getting snotty to me after i die because of something he did. omg the raaaaage. if only this were skyrim, i’d quick save so bloody fast. >:[
but i’m used to his stupid hijinks by now so i just shrug off everything else. (its a loud shrug believe you me!). it would be really REALLY super nice if he’d stop following us when we’re in the treasure room. like, seriously. get away you greedy little twerp.
oh! this is a good place to tell you i think i recently learned! you know all those wands you collect at halloween time that get stockpiled in the bank because for soooooome reason you can’t use them in raids anymore? they work on brann! all those things you used to torment your pugs with, use em on him! yesterday i learned his taunt is fantabulous as a murlock!
I’d probably add that Brann (or, rather, Veleera) should attack the mob you’re attacking and not the closest mob. It can be annoying when Brann drags mobs away from my Felguard thereby negating any attempt to cast Implosion (which desperately needs a damage buff).
the worst part of bran is they put in effort to make something worse. literally just have your alt be your delve companion. 0 lore, 0 quirky voice lines, 0 nonsense.
If that was too much work for whatever reason just let you pick a random generic npc of your choosing like the old champions from the mission tables or w/e. I feel like the game would honestly be way better if they just tried LESS.
I feel bad for brann, but in the kind of way you feel bad but for not feeling bad?
Like is my humanity dead that I wish him ill at all times?
I want him to go home and his wife have left with an orc. Just so he has to try and mentally compete with that in bed on his now sleepless nights. Like, I want his daughter to let him down so hard he weeps. I want complete ruin in his life.
But only for the chaos. and that makes me feel bad.
for me.
1). You don’t have to pick up the pots right away. He throws them early so YOU can decide when to touch them. Now, granted, sometimes you accidentally pick them up while trying to dodge attacks, but I generally don’t find much issue with it.
2). I’ve done delves as a Priest, a Warlock (with Imp pet), and a Mage and Healer Brann kept me alive just fine on all of those characters. I’ve also done it with rogues, too. So long as you’re not trying to reach above your means, and you stay near the suggested I-level as any DPS class, you shouldn’t have any trouble at all, unless you’re just not playing very well.
The mage you’re trying to do T8 with… I assume you are actually geared properly and aren’t trying to go in 20-30 item levels low? IIRC, it says 678 or something for T8. You’re not trying to do it at like 650, are you? My Fury has been handling T8s just fine and she doesn’t even have an absorb shield like mages do.
Also, your talent specs. Are you going balls-to-the-wall DPS, or are you also taking survival talents? Just because Healer Brann heals you doesn’t mean you can just forget about mitigation and healing buttons. My Fury Warrior is often reaching for Victory Rush even with Brann throwing potions, even with me trying to conserve potions. I just like to be on the safe side. And heck, with a certain few mobs, I’ll even exploit Second Wind for some healing if Brann’s potions are on cooldown and I’m fighting something big that hits hard with its melee attacks. Either Leap or Hamstring, and let Brann shoot at it and his dinos melee it while I run circles around the room letting Second Wind heal me or wait for more potions before I go at it again.
Are you using careful pulling tactics in T8 and above? This is doubly so for Nemesis Packs, I like to carefully pull them one by one into the previously cleared rooms when I can because they can actually hurt a plenty if they land attacks on you within a few seconds. You can go from 100% down to 40% in just 2 seconds if all 3 of those mobs decide to hit you simultaneously. T8 is a huge jump up from T7, you can’t just face-tank everything without at least some strategy (unless you’re playing a tank class or a BM hunter, obviously).
Also, if you’re trying to do it with a mage… have you considered using Frost and kiting the stuff? Slower kills, but it’d be more safe.
Healer Brann (which is what I exclusively run) isn’t that bad. He’s not perfect, but he’s not that bad.
As for him getting in the way, have you tried setting an interact key and using it to interact with chests and the like?
EDIT: Also, Curios. Maybe take a good long gander at the curios you’re using. Are you using pure DPS curios, or are you mixing in some survival ones too? Personally I always run Quizzical Device + Sands of Ka’resh.
I can do delves for about 2-3 weeks at the beginning of a major patch. after that, I completely lose interest and never want to see another treasure room or hear brann’s voice ever again.
old man wow player in me doesn’t like delves because solo play is boring & I don’t like feeling alienated in a massive multiplayer game. if I wasn’t playing with irl/guild friends, I doubt I’d be able to play wow for very long. I personally think delves should be cut entirely but that’s just me
This does bother me some times. The delve objectives are SO clearly designed to slow you down, so you can’t mow down the entire delve real quickly. Some times if feels like this game is intentionally wasting my time. I think it would be fun to try and optimize routes and such to get delves done really fast. But Blizzard pretty explicitly prohibits that by these silly objectives.
