Bran Bronzebeard is pointless in Delves

So I have been running delves on my dps toons and Bran was used as a healer but given that my characters were only running tier 1 delves and are ranged they weren’t really taking damage. I started leveling my Disc priest so I chose to run Bran as a DPS. He is completely useless. I started to question his damage after I noticed him struggling to kill one of the tiny mobs that spawn on you in the Earthcrawl Mines so I pulled a trash mob got it to 37% health and stoppped damage. I just healed myself for a solid 20 seconds waiting for Bran to pull this one trash mob into SWD execute range. After 20 seconds of my level 8 Bran with 3 ability slots selected going ham…the trash mob was at 37% health. This is absurd. What is the point of this bum. Did they create this meme just so we would hate him. He still has other issues but at least if he was blasting away he would count for something.

Remember delves are not strictly a solo experience. Take a friend or two, don’t rely strictly on Brann.
Also, Brann has a 60 level cap. After level 11, every level adds +5% to either his damage or healing abilities, depending on his role. So while he might feel useless at level 8, he’s proibably gonna be a rockstar at 60.

All that being said, I hope they iterate and improve S2’s delve companion.

Why do we need a companion again?

hands must be held in all games except Miyazaki ones ofc
:beverage_box: :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

I can see where a companion could be useful for healers needing a tank or a dps; tanks needing dps; or dps needing heals or tanking. I’m betting, and as a previous poster mentioned, as the companion gets closer to max level it will be much more useful and allow for the “soloing” of delves, since that has been a big selling point of them.

So, we “need” a companion because higher level delves will be too difficult to complete solo without a high level companion. The system is kind of set up for it.

So it’s not actually solo content?

Blizzard didn’t bother them to create them to work for each of the roles like the Proving Grounds?

His abilities mostly rely on you, rather than him being a solo entity capable of doing anything on his own. His egg, gryphadin and monkey proc have a noticeable effect on combat, as well as his cull, but these rely on you doing damage to things. Like he only uses his gryphadin when you use a “major cooldown,” and his monkeys proc off your attacks not his, I don’t remember the condition for the egg.

Like you send him into a room alone he’s going to do nothing but die, he is not an equal “party member.” Having him there while you attack things is beneficial though, he is a series of buffs and procs for your character.

Delves are very easily soloable for any character up to the current max difficulty of 3, and Brann does “help” but not as much as I think people would initially expect. At level 60 I imagine his effect can become pretty significant and will be important for finishing the highest tier delves.

Works fine as a healer for me. Only problem I had with him is he did this weird stutter step thing backwards into a series of mobs, no joke, it looked like a player took control of him and started pulling stuff to troll me, it was so bizarre, he was walking backwards the entire time while he was pulling…

You’re getting unnecessarily upset and argumentative.

Yes, it’s solo content. In any game, “solo” doesn’t count NPC’s the same as human players. This isn’t new.

Not sure what you want here, assumption? Hearsay? Delves are not the proving grounds and it doesn’t make sense to expect any facet of delves to act the same as any facet of the proving grounds.

From an anecdotal view point, equal to yours, Bran functioned as expected for me. I have used him for dps and heals, and had no issues with him in beta or live, regardless of the class I used.

I just like hanging out with him… he adds some fun flavor for me.

Try finding and switching out his curios, and using him as a healer has been helpful. He gets stronger the more you level him up

I mean i was doing T3 delves basically exclusively once i unlocked them and i solo them most of the time and Brann has saved my mage’s butt a few times now. I honestly didnt realize they were normal dungeon ilvl until last day of EA when some friends wanted to delve grind

I think part of the problem here is that OP is playing as a healer, and healer doesn’t work well in delves. I know this from experience on my alt.

Brann is basically set up to only respond to what you do. When you attack he has a chance to lay traps, a chance to throw an egg, a chance to throw potions, a chance to unleash monkeys, etc etc. And he has no tank spec at all.

So being a healer spec just makes you feel like a worse dps, or maybe a worse tank since youre constantly stealing aggro from him.

Delves are fun on my tank and on my dps characters, but theyre miserable on my healer.

Magni be yelling about Wounds for years. Now Brann be like “Wanna see me give the player some Wounds? Wanna see me do it again?”

I just hope I can do well in it to get all the things, I’ve been running my monk here and struggle a little at tier 3 at times. Not sure how well Brann is helping, but hopefully he does better as we get to higher tiers. I’m also going to try my hunter to see if it goes better. I stunk at the mage tower and higher level torghast, so I have an unfortunate feeling it will be the same. I don’t have people to run it with, so it’s just me and Brann.

Oh I love those eggs spawning.

I’d love the option to turn him off!

I’ve leveled my MM hunter lone wolf, went for the highest delve difficulty (without knowing) and I always found Bran useful and I’ve used him as a DPS. If not to distract certain enemies his camp fire is great between battles.

I tried a T3 Delve on my way undergeared UH DK last night, and Brann spent more time unconscious than assisting. Things were still going fine, but very slow.

I want to pull my alts into them, so that I can have a proper spec tank or healer.

uh, companionship. Someone to laugh at your jokes, to sniff the flower you pick, to remind you that you matter too. Stuff like that.
