Damn, this is one of the few times a celebrity death just hits me in the gut.
3 Doors Down was never my favorite band but I have always really liked them and listened to them my entire adult life. “Here Without You” is pretty much the theme song for the military. I got to Biloxi, Mississippi in October 1998 for tech school (Keesler) and the ten months I was there I remember hearing these guys on the radio. I had no clue that at the time they were just a local band and even one of the instructors at the academy was their uncle (or so I was told.)
Anyways, time to do a 3 Doors Down marathon until the Super Bowl starts with my favorite songs of theirs. Rest in peace, dude.
