Bracket breakers

Breaking brackets doesn’t benefit that person whatsoever, all it does is hurt the pvp community and make everyone including the bracket breaker work twice as hard for the same reward.

hurt the pvp community?
like, their feelings?

work twice as hard?
like, playing a video game and having fun is work?

Apparently you have no clue what a grind the ranking system is. It turns having fun on a video game into a full time job, plus overtime. So yes, it does hurt feelings when someone decides they want to bot 20 hours a day and force everyone into beating that.

Exactly. The bracket people have managed to turn a thoroughly entertaining video game into some kind of work project, with quotas and and attempt to punish those who don’t play ball.

I have fun doing battlegrounds. I have no illusions about what rank I can reach, because I only play to have fun. This is a video game. Rank means absolute nothing really. But playing the game in this weird work-game environment means I get whispers that I am ranking too fast and need to get in line. It absolutely makes me want to push just to make life difficult for the ones who think they are, or should be, in control.

Be honest, how much honor are you earning each week? I suspect you’re just making noise and actually have no impact on breaking anyway.

Are you playing solo? You should have the freedom to play how you want if that is the case. If there’s risk of you breaking on your own, it’s set too low.

The honest truth, I play solo. The funny thing is, the Horde population is so small on my current server - like in the hundreds at most small - that everyone plays solo. I did a couple BGs with a pickup group and, while the sample was tiny, I actually did better in random pugs. I am rank 8 now, I’ve been moving up 1 or 2 ranks a week since I arrived on this little server outpost. I enjoy BGs, always have. In Vanilla I made it to General playing solo. Thought I might manage it here too this time. Seems about right. If I didn’t have fun in this game I wouldn’t play it at all.

So far rank 8 on about 160k a week if you can believe it. I have a lot more in me if I really put my mind to it.

Nothing irritates me more than people trying to control the game play of others. These bracket management groups remind me of gear councils - if you are with the right club you get stuff freely, the rest of the lickspittles just wait and hope. No thanks, not my style. I enjoy breaking these little ‘rules’ and if it causes even a little chaos in the club, all the better. I Ride Alone.

They could always back off themselves and just let me rise to number 1. They do have that option. But I would continue to play and accrue honor whether I was Rank 14 or not.

Other Horde bracket breakers should transfer to Arcanite Reaper. Hell maybe we could form our own premade?

(If you question my General rank in Vanilla for some reason, I played as Eaglesgift on Azjol Nerub)

  • One other point - I am sure the bracket groups do make ranking easier for some at least. But if I wanted the game to be easy I would be playing retail wouldn’t I? I prefer the grinds offered by Classic and my only goal in Azeroth is to enjoy my time playing there.

Having a system on your server and respecting the brackets is the best thing you can do. My server cap was 400k a week. Some rando transferred to our server to take advantage of the lower caps, and started pushing 700k a week. We tried to get him in on our system, but he refused and kept pushing 700k+. He was banned from the server discord and was ignored in game by every other pvper on the server. He was kicked out of every guild he attempted to join. He eventually transferred back off. We’re back down to 400k now and we all are taking turns getting 14.

There is no reason to break brackets when a system is in place to make it easier for everyone. You can easily pvp for 6 hours a day and hit cap, instead of 12-14.

Too bad he left the server. He sounds like a determined and focused guy. Too bad the rest of your clique are lickspittles or bullies. I’m not in a guild. I don’t want to join your dungeon or raid groups. There is absolutely nothing that could be done to me in game that would phase me.

Yeah - make it easier for everyone. Why would you do that? That’s what retail is for.

I think you’re missing the point. There is no ‘group’. We didn’t premade, we didn’t pvp together, nothing. We, as intelligent adults, came to the conclusion that if we form a system and abide by it, its easier for everyone involved. This d bag came to our server for lower caps, but just instead raised the caps for everyone and himself. He transferred back off because he was an idiot, nothing more.

There shouldn’t be any risk of you breaking bracket at 160k. I guess a lower bracket? From my experience, anyone who is approached and made aware is usually left alone after being told that they are indifferent towards it. If you feel you are being harassed, open a ticket to Blizzard.

Pushing higher does not mean that you will progress. They’ll just keep grinding ahead of you. On a certain week, they’ll be done and you’ll be given a higher bracket yourself. Even if you refuse to work with their system, they’ll likely leave a spot for you regardless.

Not some, literally everyone who PVPs that week benefits. It trickles down the entire way.

I just prefer to play my game. I don’t want to be trickled on. I have fun, if it adds some stress to the bracket players all the better.

Regardless, I assure you that you’ve had a higher standing each week because of it whether you are aware of it or not.

Its a video game man - there is no progress that matters. If the game is fun, play it. Having more in game crap is not why I play - pixels are nothing.

Come to Arcanite Reaper. Anyone who wants to bracket break should. Make this place actually punishingly competitive. I welcome it. It would make me laugh.

I feel that you are being intentionally obtuse. I’m not here to tell you how to play, in fact I wish you luck.

I know exactly how it works. I like aggressively messing with a system. It’s fun to irritate others in game and stress them. In the real world I have to play nice - not in Azeroth. People here are reaching ranks 12, 13, even 14 on as little as 350k a week. Come on in, the water’s fine - lets heat it up.

I now understand why you’re guildless.

Maybe. But I think not. I doubt you have the capacity to understand a solitary. You think your view is the only view. It is a sad handicap you have.

I guess myself and the thousands of rankers who respect the honor cap are just wrong. No way it could be you.
