I did lose my head briefly. But no worries, my attitude has shifted. Or, perhaps better to say, the trolls’ influence over how I feel has been eliminated. Ythisens’s posts went a long way in assuring me that the Classic devs are being influenced by neither the merely misguided souls who want a more ‘modern’ feel to Classic, nor the blatant trolls hellbent on sabotaging the project or simply stirring the pot for their own enjoyment. It’s easy to get caught up in all the nonsense that goes on on this forum and let it bring you down. At least for me it was. But that’s on me. To let other people actually have an influence on my attitude is ridiculous. Especially those who exist on this forum soley for that purpose.
Despite all the calls for change, ‘improvements’, etc on this forum the devs haven’t deviated an inch from that authenticity principle at the core of the Classic experience. And that’s all that matters. For my own part I adopted an early New Year’s resolution not to quote trolls and feed them the attention they so desire. I’ve been doing a pretty good job. When I do reference them it’s mostly just to poke fun at their absurdity because…well, if you can’t laugh at trolls then what fun are they?
So I enter the upcoming year full of optimism and hope. Now if the devs just reconsider loot sharing and drop the idea of sharding into a well those hopes will be completely fulfilled.
