Tonight during the Nazmir assault a group of us started going after the bounty on Ally. One had it at the time. They eventually made their way to Nazwatha and were farming the Horde FP. At this time two Allies had a bounty. As many of us died trying to kill Allies, my rez timer was at 2 mins. Before I finally died for that 2 min rez, I ended up killing one bounty, then another dropped and as I was dead waiting another Ally got a bounty who then died. So during that 2 min wait time, 3 bounty bags dropped that many of us couldn’t even loot due to the rez timer. In other cases where the GY isn’t where I died and had to traverse the terrain, the bags are definitely going to be gone by then. I’m not going to complain so much with the rez timers as I am the timer on the bounty bags disappearing in like 10-20 sec. 3 bags lost tonight due to waiting on the rez timer.
Remember you can only loot the bag once a day.
But you’re right. sometimes it feels like, despite contributing to the assassination of an assassin, you don’t get to claim your assassin’s bounty bag. They should probably conceive of a better method to deliver those to players that participated in the kill.
The bounty system is interesting. It doesn’t propose to incentivize WPvP participation unless somebody has a bounty.
Bounties are infrequent, because nobody really has any legitimate interest in attaining one – knowing that they’ll be hunted by a large group of enemy players after a quick reward, and likely die without assistance from a coordinated group.
Quick side note: what the heck happened to war chests? Those were dropping like hot-cakes in the opening weeks of the expansion and have since, seemingly, ceased to exist at all.
I thought war chests were exciting, and served to incentivize WPvP participation wherever they dropped – that said, there needs to be some manner of map indicator in order to draw players to their location slightly before they spawn.
They didn’t listen in alpha… didn’t listen in beta… why would they listen now. -_-
I digress.
Yea I know it’s once a day, that’s why it irritated me even more since I didn’t get one yet today and 3 were right there I couldn’t get
And not sure why it had my character set to the one I literally never play haha
The requirement is to loot the bag. Killing the bounty is only peripherally related. Suiciding against the bounty is only half the job. Staying alive and actually looting the bag before someone else does is the hard part.
I think the alternative would be to automatically give bounty bags to, say, the five people who did the most to kill the bounty, or maybe just the person who got the killing blow, or something like that. In that case, the bag would just appear in your inventory.
My guild has the opposite experience. Our resident war chest expert can almost always find at least one war chest per assault; she found two in my group last night. I’d already looted an air drop yesterday so I didn’t get any Conquest from the first one, but I did get a piece of rare gear to disenchant. On the second one, I got nothing; apparently there are two separate limitations on what loot you can get from war chests. In both cases we had to fight off Horde, so they can’t be that difficult to find.
Meanwhile there were up to 5 bounties on Horde on the docks, where some raid versus raid action was happening. Maybe people on RP servers are more likely to play like there’s a war on? I wonder if the level of PVP activity also plays into how fast the chests spawn.
Right, the assault chests are not the same kind of chest as the conventional air-dropped variety though.
That chest can be looted by either faction until it disappears — the air dropped variety happens spontaneously in zones and is captured by either one or the other faction — and only they can loot it from that point.
The problem is, only 5 people can loot each bounty bag. Perhaps you died and then 5 random people from your faction looted it.
OP think of it like an old Western movie. One can’t collect a bounty if one is dead. The whole phrase “Wanted: Dead or Alive” applied to the target, not the bounty hunter.
Definitely seems to drop war chests less than before…
The problem I’m having lately is that now that more people know that only the first 5 people to click the bag when it drops, regardless of participation in killing the bounty, that lots of them don’t even try to touch the bounty and instead are clicking to loot the bag.
I participated in killing a bounty earlier where there were about 10-12 of us around the bounty, but it seemed only myself and a rogue were doing any damage. When the bag dropped, even though I looted within a couple seconds, it had already been looted dry.
Also it penalizes casters.
There’s got to be another way that’s better.
Problem I always have is that the fight is still going on with the folk they were with and I am too involved fighting them to stop and loot the damn bags. wish there were a way to loot the bags more easily even in midst of fighting.
Honestly I think the solution would be A: To only give people that tagged the bounty loot, and B: Put that loot directly into their bags. (I also have forgotten to loot a bounty several times until it was far too late.)
