Botting vs Mutiboxing

Is there any real way to tell the difference or to differentiate one from another? (Ingame activity only)

Technically no.
Though people will provide examples and say “are you saying this isn’t botting” but there is no way to know. Could be some autistic savant playing at bot level :person_shrugging:

They keep whining about AH ‘bots’
then describe the ‘bot’ doing EXACTLY what Ive made videos of myself doing.

Then theres the ‘bots’ that farm for hours in the same zone. As if a player cant do the samething. lmao.

‘bot’ seems to be “anything that beats me or annoys me” in the game

Honestly one can sorta tell if it’s a bot farming nodes

Doesn’t even have to be that, this guy just wanted to level alts and quest alone but apparently those with the bot eye felt different :sob:

Luckily for him his son got the decision reversed after pleading for help on reddit of all places.

yet every time they complain in here and describe the ‘bot’ its nothing a player cant do.
Ive seen bots farming. theyre pretty weird in their movement patterns. Players dont make the same “V” pattern line between A and B over and over 100 times. Bots might.

lmao
they come in here screaming ‘BOTS!’ then describe a multboxer to the letter, lol.

Maybe its easy enough to tell. If it is, maybe you can point it out to 99% of them so they stop screeching about bots when what theyre showing us most of the time is a player who has annoyed them on the AH or who got a node before they did, lmao

lol.
I wonder how many bots run a lot of quests? Or have a list of achieves, especially ones that take time to get?
$100 says blizzards lazy rumps COULD have EASILY discerned a PLAYER account from a BOT just by doing some research on the account in question to see if its ALL bot like activity with no real RPG play to it.

Another $100 says this kind of ban happens mostly when whiny players cant keep up with another player and start banging that ‘cheater’ button because they mad. lmao.

I multi-box two accounts, sometimes three, and it’s easy to tell me apart from bots because it’s clunky as hell.

me + myself + i run up to a herb node. character 1 demounts and starts picking. i tab to character 2 and start picking. character 3 is too far from the node due to follow, so i have to move character 3 to the node (while character 1 and 2 have finished picking and are standing there gormlessly). then i have to remount on all three characters one at a time and make sure each is following the other and it’s a whole thing. tbh the only reason i do it is for the RAF bonus and also to do multi-person achievements when i can’t find a full group, ie Kneel To The Flame. it’s not easy.

bots: run through the ground using noclip and pick flowers from under the map.

One easy way to check a bot would be to see their log in times and how long they been on for.

No player would be farming in the same spot for the week or longer for 20 hrs a day. Yet there’s bots out there that do and nothing gets done.

that plus what are they doing over the course of weeks.
Are they ONLY actively farming for weeks on end and not doing any real questing at a point
not working on achieves
literally no group content with other real players.
Im sure even blizzard college grad kids can figure out the difference if they actually tried to.
They seem to do the same crap as in here
let the patients run the asylum. lol.

That is what actual multiboxing looks like. No one would ever confuse that with a bot.

FFXIV openly allows multiboxing. WoW used to until they got the new dev team.

It’s been years since I did this but a while back circa mists I gathered tons of herbs and that’s all I did for whole play sessions of two hours at a time.

I was on vent chatting with friends and the guild asked for herbs for the bank so that’s what I did for a few days.

Some said I was a bot. I never responded so I guess I contributed to their belief I was one.

I still do herbalism today but just stuff as I quest I will never do the hours just picking flowers again.

Point is just because people say something in the game is true doesn’t mean it is. Lots of “know it all” attitudes play this game.

It’s hard to tell the difference unless you follow them for 20 plus minutes.

Idk if FFXIV allows the software to multibox though since they don’t like third party software at all.

No. It is fully allowed there. FF is a really weird game though. But multiple MMOs allow it. Blizzard only started to be against it when they began to fully merge with Activision. You wanna multibox go play FF.

Here more multiboxing clips. It is actually fun. Go play Final Fantasy. What Blizzard keeps removing, Final Fantasy is adding in.

No one would mistake this for being a bot. No one.

Go play Final Fantasy. Not even joking. They allow multiboxing. If you do it by having one toon leading and a bunch on follow then they will outright ban you. Or if they are all spit up then they will ban you. But if all are in the same place doing the same thing that only one single person could do then yea it is allowed.

Go play Final Fantasy. They allow multiboxing. Easy to tell the difference between a bot and a multiboxer. No one would ever confuse the two.

Play Final Fantasy.

I do that just to screw with them. lmao
Then go dance or run circles around them without saying anything just to make them wonder lol.

I dont bot.
The second blizzards LAZY rump bans one of my accounts for botting I wont be fighting it. I’ll be unsubbing the other accounts and we wont be coming back.

You can’t tell what is going on with anyone else character.

Some can’t even tell what is going on with their own character.

The only real way is carefully watching how they move. If they are a bot they’re going to run the exact same route
Absolutely zero deviation. Or as I caught a couple in classic they’ll cast like a buff spell exactly when the old buff expires. So yes there are ways to tell regardless of what others have said.

Your best bet though is if you even remotely suspect someone of botting it is to report them and let Blizzard figure it out. They have the logs and will be able to tell.

well if you whisper them and they give no response then a bot

I mean not really, if its a multiboxxer keystroke broadcasting, then it’s easy to tell give they all do the same action at the same time. Botting I guess can be seen if their going on a set path for hours on end farming herbs and ore.
