The other day in Nazjatar, Rokahn warned me of a, “nasty alliance assassin.”
(Personally, I wondered if there was any other kind)
Anyway, woo! Let’s get some conquest!
I flew over to his location to see that he was a botter. A fifteen-unholy-death-knight- with-two-undead-pets-with-ankoan-follower-assassin.
A lag causing assassin.
When I swooped in to engage, the server nearly had a cardiac arrest. My screen froze.
What happened next looked to be more like a slide show than a 2020 video game. A gorgeous and colorful slide show.
Tldr: we killed the guy and got his juicy conquest.
If you have the power to crash a server, then you are cheating.

I guarantee you no individual player has the power to crash a server. The logistics of that is impossible.

Go to Nazjatar and find the guy; his name was #$$=^&$<* (can’t post names on forums) you’ll be a believer soon enough.

Im telling you this simply isn’t possible. I worked under the umbrella of Networking in the IT sector for years.
There is absolutely, positively, nothing an individual player can do to lag a server immediately.

inb4 “it’s not botting it’s multiboxing” and “don’t call it multibotting”

Maybe your computers just bad.
I can see how a bunch of Unholy DK bots could make you lose frames, but I doubt it could crash the server.

Soooooo “Inb4 factual information pointing out the OP’s mistake”?

“Botting” doesn’t somehow crash the server or anything like it. It just automates gameplay. Unless you are saying he was multiboxing like 100+ characters? Which still isn’t botting.

Multiboxing is not cheating you

and I’m telling you that this guy overwhelmed the gerbil that runs on the wheel to power the server.
It is highly unlikely that a single dude has enough horse power to slow down the servers. DOS attacks are done by thousands of botted computers and everyone feels it, not just you. You probably lagged up when his hydra army started dropping tons of spells all at once and your PC couldn’t keep up.
You’re correct, botting is cheating because it’s entirely automated. Although, I suspect that you’re confusing botting, and multiboxing.

They’re still playing on their 80286 and their dial up connection.
They are.
It’s clearly a multiboxer that op is confusing as a botter.
FYI. Back in the day people used to have lag macros to lag the server when engaged in pvp to lag you and gain advantage. Dunno about now tho.

BOTTING IS CHEATING
gonna have to go with a big ‘DUH’ on that one, lol.
who here DIDNT know that botting is cheating and bannable?
Boxing, on the other hand, isnt as per blizzards own statement.
Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our Terms of Use. We do not support multiboxing tools.

Botting—>is a computer program controlling a virtual character and imitating human behavior. Yes using botting software is cheating, and will get you banned, because it does not require a person to be at the computer. Multiboxing requires a person to be manually controlling the characters, and is not against the TOS.
