I mean … you are not wrong
Are you trying to imply that botting/buying gold is morally wrong? rofl
This is the way. Only problem from their perspective is, they’ve waited too long. At this point, a significant chunk of players have bought gold. I don’t believe Blizzard would be willing to ban them all.
It’s a chicken or the egg type argument. Are people buying gold because of botting and server size causing a scarcity of resources? Or are people botting because so many players are buying gold?
Either way, it’s hard to raid with consumes and stuff and have enough time to farm without playing numerous hours during the week.
This is a good point. With the economy so inflated, you either have to spend several hours a week farming gold or about an hour or two of IRL time to earn the money to buy it. Many players seem to be choosing the latter.
Considering botters and gold buyers have a blatant disregard for other people’s enjoyment of the game, yes. You can’t do something if it will harm thousands.
It doesn’t have to be illegal to be frowned upon. Do you think people who, for example, invade others’ Minecraft servers solely to hack/grief/ruin it aren’t displaying sociopathic behavior?
Yes! we need to throw people who do drugs in prison FOREVER!
FOREVER!
FOREVER!
found the gold buyer.
WILLING gold buyers are the cause.
Get rid of them and you eliminate most botters.
yes, BAN ALL OUR CUSTOMERS! BAN THEM I SAY!
If only there was a solution where people could buy and sell game time, essentially buying gold from blizz instead of illicit gold farmers. It’s too bad blizzard has never been able to devise a system like this.
Amazing reach, not the same thing at all. Explicitly and knowingly ruining the game for others. Everyone who eventually breaks the ToS is/has been a customer.
It’s a ban. I’m sorry.
Just add tokens. All that farming bs will go away since it’ll take real money off the table.
Is real money trading.
You think GDKP/boosting is obnoxious now. Wait till there’s an official real world value attached to gold. It’s wasn’t the answer for retail, it was a mistake that’s obvious now. M+ Carries/Guild carries/Gear buying/etc/etc/etc.
Learn from it.
wts naxx boost, 15/15, free loot 30k PST
In a way it would be worse, since you can just buy BiS gear off the AH in classic. But at least with the token I don’t get spam mail for a “great discount!!!”. People who want to buy gold are gunna buy it regardless where it comes from. The modern token system is preferable to what we have now, it for the most part put gold farmers out of business, with the added perk of being able to play for “free”
Retail is no different, other than professions mean very little and the gold you buy isn’t from a 3rd party but from Blizzard itself. They found a way to do what the gold sellers and botters used to do and that’s if you cant beat them join them.
Retail now is run by carries in PVE and PVP or whatever you want for gold
While gold carries exist in retail, its not nearly as prevalent as classic. Classic’s content is so easy, monkeys can do it. Then you add insanely cheap gold from botting and master loot, viola, Pug GDKP on the hardest content in the game.
You may believe this is a good solution, but it’s actually the worst thing they could do if they want to keep subscribers.
Server economies are so inflated that gold buying actually keeps more people playing the game. You might think it’s gold buyers that are creating this inflation, but it’s not. Run away inflation started the moment servers were released and the game was flooded with multiboxers, and people using terrain exploits in dungeons. Taking away layers only made it worst because it created very high amounts of scarcity for critical items like herbs.
People don’t want to spend hours farming gold just so they can have consumes for a raid every week.
lol buddy there were carries way before there were WoW tokens
A brilliant idea for Blizzard. Shut down 3rd party RMT and allow gold-rich people to play for “free” while still collecting $5 extra for their token sub…
