Bots mass reporting

Mass reporting still a problem for years now and it’s absolutely insane. Character names like “Aadsalighjg” with pets that have Chinese characters for names and players get banned based on their reports. The bots, though, are allowed to roam free when it would be the easiest thing in the world to ban them or at the very least ignore their reports on players.

It’s disgusting that they’re allowed to do what they do on this game and have been getting away with it for so long. Has blizz said word on this?

There is no such thing as a ban from mass reports. Stop falling for this lie.

no, becuase this isnt how banning works. the “ban” you are referring to is actualy a squelch. its a temporary silence. the reports are then reviewed and the squelch lifted (is left depending).

bans do not happen automatically. a gm approves a ban before it happens based on evidence collected through whatever systems they put in place, which sometimes get it wrong.

Then what is the ban for?

Who knows, but it’s not from being mass reported

So the GMs are banning people who got reported by bots on purpose? They quite literally listed a bot name as one of the complaints and “griefing” as the reason. How can they not notice that an illegitimate “player” is making the claim and ignore the report? If you’re on a PvP server and you get killed ONE time going into BRM, that’s not griefing and you’re also not protected by the policy of blizzard if you’re breaking the policy by being an obvious bot.

your account can not get suspended/ban from mass reporting but mass reports will get a GM to look into your account and then he/she might find what could cause them to ban you, which is…
-you are selling or buying gold.
-you are using 3rd party software for any automation or broadcasting your keys.
-you abuse something in game if glitches or bugs.

basically most people who get ban in classic are either buying or selling gold or using any automation.

Say i hire someone at 12$hr to sit in my chair and level up and farm for me… Is that botting?

its account sharing

lol, false equivalency.

it doesnt matter if a real player or a bot reports you. if a gm looks into your account and finds actionable reasons to ban you, they simply will. it doesnt matter if the initial reports are legitimate or not.

if there is nothing to take action (ie ban you) upon your account then the squelch is usually lifted (or left in place if you have inflammatory chat records)

and like i said, sometimes the system gets it wrong. the gms that review this stuff most likely arent even players that understand the nuance of the game. thats why they have an appeals system.

I have a theory that people get banned for past reports that weren’t looked into until they were mass reported.

I don’t think they have said much, keeping an eye out though.

I really don’t care about the policies or how much it applies to the situation; It’s wrong to ban players who pay to play your game for killing bots. Full stop. If the policy allow for these types of bans to take place or influences the GMs when deciding bans, the policy should change.

this is an old video, and might not even be relevant in this iteration of classic.

im not saying it is or isnt, but this should be taken with a grain of salt. A LOT COULD HAVE CHANGED SINCE THEN is all im saying!

these dont appear to be bans either, theyre squelch’s which go in line with my previous comment above.

in any case, im pretty sure actual bans arent automated. they are reviewed by a gm.

i have to call some shenanigans.

they dont tell you who reported you or for what reason.

pvp is not griefing other players, bots or not.

Imagine having to deal with Blizzard’s automated CS EVERYDAY.

It’s cute you think Blizzard has GM’s on staff. They automated the ban process years ago if you’ll remember the big stink about it because people were using it to target harass streamers.

LOL!

No. This is why so many paladins got caught up in the strath ban, and why so many mages got caught up in the mage/boosting ban. GMs will only review bans if there is an appeal.

Even then good luck getting blizzard to review your ban appeal since they don’t have any CS on staff.
