I can see that your honor level is bordering on the newbie pool of 1-29 so if I’d have to guess you’re just seeing literal new players and mistaking them for bots as you’re unqualified to really identify them.
BG bots haven’t really been popular in recent years. Hope this helped. 
I just did an AB and literally 1/2 my team was just stacked on top of eachother doing the same exact movements running around like a train lol, mounting at the same exact time ect ect… But yeah NO BOTS IN RANDOM BGs lol.
Horde side was just as bad. So dumb.

How do you know it’s a bot? It could be me trying pvp after a decade. Probably indistinguishable at this point.

No, it’s very distinguishable. The bots all “act” the same. They move in packs, mounting and dismounting at the exact same time. Their movements are stiff and unnatural, it’s obvious when you’ve got a group of them on your team.
So far, I’ve been pretty lucky today and only ended up on one team with bots (there were five of them in that game). But the poor Horde has had bots in several games.
You can easily tell the difference between an “out of practice” player and a bot.
I don’t know if it’s in the sand or someplace a whole lot darker and smellier. There are still very much PVP bots, fishing, bots, auction house bots, etc. in this game.
I know I can’t go by the name alone, but when I made a void elf DK about a week or so ago, there were about half dozen ahrgkowejkl-named PCs in the spawn in spot by the frozen throne.
Some folks may have been testing how the toon looks, but that seems quite, uh, suspect to me.
