This is a link to an official WoW botting forum. As you can see there is a pixel reading bot. The wow client runs in a virtual environment separate from the bot’s operating system, so warden does not suspect anything.
I am afraid that WoW will be overrun by this new type of botting if something is not done to counter this new threat soon. WoW’s heavy gold depending economy will realistically multiply the time i spend farming by 0 if bots like this one slide into the public’s hands!

I’d like for there to be a whole server of bots. See how well they can be programed to defeat raids even.

Warden (one of the first and most widely used vanilla bot) only came towards the end of vanilla. The consequences of an undetectable bot like this one are unimaginable!

I mean it is a pixel monitoring bot. He is able to provide a significant amount of information from the WOW Addon API and translates it to pixel information where the 3rd party program visual watches for changes to the pixels in a defined area and controls the player. Since, like you said, they can easily run this through a VM by passing Warden a quick fix would be for Blizzard to break some of the information the API is able to provide BUT!!! this would break a ton of other add-ons im sure.

That’s one drawback to Classic…to replicate the Vanilla experience, they started with 1.12, which still didn’t have a lot of the security features against hacking and botting that have been implemented over the last 15 years. They’ll have to re-do a lot of that from near-scratch.
Whereas largely I believe any addon that was allowed in 1.12 (Vanilla’s last patch) should be allowed in 1.13 (Classic), I think they should still stamp out botting.

That is not entirely true. I am quite sure that wow 1.13 is built using the same engine that retail uses. There fore blizzard had to rebuild everything from scratch. The treat is based on the fact that the bot runs on a separate operating environment then wow.
ya, i think this is what took them launching classic so long. Because it’s based on the same framework as the current retail version.
Is it possible for warden to detect if the Client is running in VM ? If so blizzard can prohibit it.
