Bots and their cheats

So I just saw a video covering what bots are doing and it’s absolutely insane that they are even able to do this.
So apparently level 60 rogues in full communal gear are able to farm slave pens, and before that they were doing it to steam vault before a level requirement was added. Now the way they are doing this is by pickpocketing and mining using, if you can believe it (I wouldn’t have if I didn’t see it in the video) NO CLIP HACKING!!!
YES blizzard apparently has become a joke with their anti cheat engine if mass bots can be created and use NO CLIP HACKS!
So what do you all think about mass amount of rogue bots using full on hacks and blizzards anti cheat isn’t picking up on it.

I agree, this needs to be fixed.

Name and shame Blizzard here. Link the video if you feel its the right thing to do. Let everybody see it so Blizzard fixes it asap.

There is a lot of real money to be made with these hacks. And where there is money, there are talented, hard-working developers to create hacks in a complex manner that are undetectable by the current version of the game.

Much like there are talented, hard-working developers to create hacks, there are equally as talented, hard-working developers at Blizzard working to combat and patch exploits.

It’s a cat-and-mouse game. It’s endless. There will be periods where the hacks don’t work, and there will be periods where they do work. This cycle will never end until it reaches a point where it is no longer valuable for the hack developers to continue to develop.

The people implementing these hacks aren’t some 13 year old kids in high school. They’re very talented and intelligent individuals.

Even the anti-cheats of games like Valorent, which literally run on your system at all times and are far more invasive in terms of privacy was almost broken instantly.

So, we finally have the documentation necessary for stopping these people once and for all! Their reign is finally at an end and everyone can go back to playing the game as intended!

Well done!

Let me get this right…

3 day ban for gold selling
8 day ban for pvp exploit

I’m in the wrong business

Why? Sellers need buyers, right?

But who on earth could be buying this gold?

What a mystery this is…

To put this in more simple terms, when you can… DO use the report feature.

This gives Blizzard information about someone that may be cheating. By having a pool of these people, developers can work to understand how they are bypassing anti-cheat measures, and then they can work to patch their anti-cheat system so that whatever exploit the hackers are using have to come up with another way to cheat again.

But expecting it to end is the wrong expectation. It will never end. I’m sorry. Even if it wasn’t for the money, the process of developing these hacks and exploits is a fascinating challenge and hobby for some people.

World of cheat and hack craft!

Code a deathzone that surrounds the instances and a foot into the walls, floor and ceiling.

Done.

EDIT: I’m not a programmer but it seem’s like a fairly simple way to fix the issue. The plus side is this zone is already active but it’s far larger than a ingame foot.

That’s honestly not a bad idea

Hey now!!

Those are paying subscribers just like yourself! Can you imagine the revenue that Activision/Blizzard would lose if they permanently banned all those bots? Do you think Bobby comes cheap? Do you think that the new Trump flunky they hired works cheap?

Even if they investigated and caught those bots (which itself would cost them money) it is just not financially viable for them to permanently ban all those accounts. Besides, all the gold that those bots farm will inflate the economy and then give Activision/Blizzard a justified reason to introduce the WoW token to TBC Classic (Retail). That will make them even MORE money!! It’s just too much a win/win situation for them to ignore botting and exploitative behavior on their servers. And that whole “Gameplay First” value got replaced with “Money First” quite some time ago.

Thanks.

WoW Token already got introduced to China servers, by the way. Quite a while back, in fact.

Guess what happened? All China’s bots moved to NA and EU.

I wonder why that happened. What a mystery this is…

Really? ALL of them?

Do you have some inside information on the bot population? I know they won’t probably do anything with it, but it could be a great help to Activision/Blizzard on the slim hope that there are still a few people on their staff that still care about such things.

Thanks.

Nah, that’s an exaggeration. But the majority of them did. Greener pastures and all that.

And I’m sure folks at Activision/Blizzard are well aware of and know far more than I’ll never know about this subject-matter as well. If anything, I don’t know why they didn’t introduce the WoW Token at the height of WoW Classic when everything was inflated. Maybe they looked at the #NoChanges crowd and thought it would have been too much of a risk.

Maybe the TBC changes are a tiptoe. If we tolerate a little bit now, we’ll welcome the entire camel later on. Who knows?

I don’t know how many people rolled a farm alt so they can exploit the dungeons. Rogues in BRD, mages in ZF and Mara. Now we have the same in Outland. I’m sure there are plenty of bots doing this, but I’m also sure there are plenty of regular players doing the same.

Perhaps they should link spawns of herbs, nodes and chests to the size of the group. Gold and XP should also be normalized to the average level and size of the group - gold and XP earned by a player should be the same amount all the time.

I seem to recall that they reduced cloth drop rates in dungeons when folks stated farming for equipment for xmogs, as the AH was flooded for a while. So they have made changes in the past.

I very much doubt that “regular players” are doing this:

I don’t see that video as conclusive. I don’t always respond to random tells. But it is suspicious.

I still think they should patch up pathing and make it garder to exploit instances.
