I am leveling a priest for the first time, taking talents that seemed interesting to me. Hit level 71 and am now faced with two red buttons as both hero talent trees I guess revolve around optional talents that did not interest me in the slightest.
So now I have to shoe-horn in a talent, give up one that I liked, and then re-learn a modified rotation to involve the talent I wasn’t interested in. This feels so lame.

Oh right.
Shadow really did get the short end of the stick compared to Disc and Holy, even tho I use Archon I know what you mean.

Halo is mostly unintrusive, since it just empowers a talent that occasionally replaces your filler spell.
The only change here is the priority on Mind Flay / Mind Spike if that’s what you’re using, and ofc having Halo and using it as a cooldown.
The other requires Void Torrent, and is also pretty unintrusive tbh, but VT is a deeper investment if you’re doing a wacky personal build.

I like the trees but I do have to admit that it’s pretty stupid to not have an option for divine star.
Do you want to have your hero talents be unusable, or pick halo?
Such a great choice node

Halo for DPS is much more generally useful than halo for healing though, isn’t it? Halo for healing requires you to be in a raid to get anything out of it, whereas in a DPS situation you will be hitting more enemies with Halo.
I dunno though, I haven’t played shadow yet.

Individually it seems OK to have a hero tree themed around a particular talent, even an optional one. Druids have a treant spec which makes no sense to take if you don’t take treants, for example.
But for a spec to have BOTH of their hero options be that way is not great. Couldn’t at least one of them have been built on a baseline ability, or work with both sides of a choice node?
bro i have the same problem on my blood dk, they want me to use marrowrend but i never took that talent because i role play a death knight who is bad at tanking.
