Botched PVP Implementation, are Diminishing Returns Even Functioning?

Are diminishing returns on honorable kills functioning in classic wow? Is estimated honor accurate? To my knowledge in regular vanilla wow it would display diminished returns in estimated honor on kills.

This is very important, many people are expecting far different results than they will receive and a lack of diminishing returns would enable kill trading for people who break the rules.

Please respond asap, me and my guild are pouring a lot of time into this and only want to know what the rules of the game are. There are serious clerical errors in the implementation of pvp, many more which I could list, which are seriously degrading the quality of the experience.

(Furthermore I could not even submit a ticket on this via the in-game client for some reason, what’s up with that???)

Thanks.

Dimishing returns did not show in chat, were only calculated at batch.

The log always shows the undiminished amount of honor. I had to use an addon to calculate the honor from diminished kills back in the day.

Cool to know, a lot of conflicting sources floating around.

I am also wondering why https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/23221132#comments

states that:

You will be given Dishonorable Kills for killing civilian NPCs which immediately impacts your Honor rating. Every dishonorable kill costs you some of the honor that you’ve earned in previous weeks, making it difficult to reach the higher ranks as long as you have any dishonorable kills counted on your record at all. These will appear in the Honor tab immediately.

when the information online seems to suggest that dishonorable kills detract 100 rank points immediately upon kill and has nothing to do with honor.

Are dishonorable kills this week actively negatively impacting rankers?

When I was rank 13 and roughly 50% of the way to rank 14 in vanilla, I got a DK and it immediately removed about 20% (may have been more or less than 20%, memory is fuzzy on the exact amount) of my progress to rank 14. From that I believe it actually deducts RP and not honor but I can’t say for sure as I never got any DKs when unranked.

Yes, and I would not blame you for a fuzzy memory. However, I seriously think Blizzard should reflect on their roll out of such a complicated system. If they took the time to program the necessary pieces to implement it, the least they owe are some patch notes to explain in detail. Why is there no option to view classic patch-notes as with live?

Although I am not necessarily expecting it, I would appreciate a Blue Post on the nature of dishonorable kills as implemented in official classic.

Well I mean an estimation is by definition not necessarily accurate.

True, I understand the nuance but it is also an understandable source of confusion which I feel could have been elaborated on better.

Haha, the reason there is so much conflicting info out there is exactly because they released a such a complicated system with no info back in the day. Many people think they know how it works but are completely wrong. I can try to answer questions you have as someone that did the grind back in vanilla if you like but that’s the best I can offer. GL with your grinding if you’re aiming for those higher ranks.

Yup, that’s exactly how DKs work, take it right from RP. Which means right now, DKs are free!

I’d say a lot has changed since back then as far as communication expectations. Oh well, I know more than the average Joe at least. ;D A lot of people are definitely under the impression they are earning far more honor than they are. Will be interesting to see reactions when it all rolls in.

When do Diminishing Returns reset each day? Is there a concrete time you know of?
