We have gone through this so many times.
You have been told so many times.
You had a mass exodus of people quitting the game because of these systems and items.
How many more times will we have to go through it for the message to sink in?
People don’t like these systems. They don’t like these items. Why do you continue doing it? This is yet ANOTHER item slot that is locked down. So how are we going to get 2 crafted items for embellishments? We have tier sets, rings, trinkets, a belt, a cloak, cantrip boots.
For god’s sake can we stop with this mandatory item slots for an entire tier?

here here! remove tier sets too, this frees up way more slots than the cloak would

Borrowed power is more like changing your rotation than it being gear based. We have trinkets with the same concept.
Borrowed power is a good thing and makes the game fresh.
Legion was good because borrowed power. End of bfa was goated because of borrowed power
If anything they need to add more

This is a slippery slope. It works in small doses where we have a seasonal item that adds to gameplay to the same extent as a tier set. If we start asking for more of it, we’ll be back to infinite power grinds before we know it, and expansion-long borrowed power systems that are more complex and start dragging down the overall design of the game, because all the bandwidth of development resources as well as player focus gets absorbed by it.

Honestly this locked gearslot nonsense they’ve been forcing every single patch is bordering on stupidity on the devs part instead of blatant ignorance.
First we had a dead ring slot due to Circe’s Circlet, only since the recent turbo boost ilvl bump did specs finally start replacing it.
Now we’ve got the Sparking Delve Belt which is pretty boring as it’s just an additional passive effect killing off the belt slot as an upgrade until most likely mythic track belts (if they even replace it at all) next tier.
Then there’s this blasted cloak, which isn’t bad enough that most people craft one of their forced embellishments in this slot they’ve gone even further with having a forced “BiS” pairing of boots from the raid to go with it which boosts it by 50% which is frankly ridiculous. So the slot you were going to change your embellishment to? Yeah won’t be boots. Belt? Will barely be an increase over the sparky unless that cops a heavy nerf which then leaves your 2nd embellishment to be your offpiece in a tier slot, which isn’t ever really a fun item to force into being a dead slot as players using multiple specs will prefer a different offpiece and will eventually own all 5 tier slots causing even further nonsense with needing even more items crafted than is necessary.
Not to mention this kinda kills off the catchup portion of the crafted gear system since we’re making so many slots dead content that there isn’t really much to send those later sparks on.
All this does it make the gearing process dull and lacking any semblance of progression.

It wasn’t borrowed power that was the problem. It was that if you wanted to play an alt at all you needed to repeat all the same content to get the same power. If they keep the borrowed power systems account based it is fine.

Hard disagree, the whole artefact power nonsense was hated due to the system as a whole, not because of alt catch ups. It was a boring and mindless chore which was time gated anyway so anyone playing week to week was just checking a list off so they got enough power to keep up for the week as farming any further was a waste of time due to the excessive amount of artificial time that was added onto whatever the not expected level for that week in the season was at.

It’s an RPG. Farming power levels on an item is not any different than farming gear upgrades.

It very much is when you’ve got a dead slot that never changes to a different gear piece over the course of a whole season that makes any time that slot even dares show it’s face in your vault or your raid’s drops a wasted drop or slot.
It’s going to feel REALLY bad getting any cloaks or boots in the vault next season.

And if you get a Mythic BIS item week 1 you aren’t going to change that over the course of the season either, making it a “dead” slot.
Edit: also I’m assuming they will remove cloaks from all drops next season. Otherwise that is a huge blunder.

That’s nowhere near the same thing even in the slightest since it’s a piece that drops from the content, not something you’re forced to maintain or have just given to you that ruins a lot of your crafted gear options.
Checking the PTR right now there doesn’t seem to be any cloaks in the dungeons or raid which covers that problem.
However this also causes an even further issue in that every single tier cloak model for S3 will not be obtainable due to the lack of items to convert via the catalyst unless they plan to add them in a vendor or award them as apart of some achievements.
And this second part is fixed since it’s apart of the raid renown track - item drops from boss to make tier cloak models.

I like them. I like having something more than just my class. I believe that original version of corruptions in bfa was one of the best ideas they ever had…sadly implementation and balance was completely off.
One thing that i do agree with you on is to have one or two separate fear slots some “medal” or “trinket” that would serve for the purpouse of these borrowed power systems. Imho ofc.
There aren’t enough non tier slots for me to put 2x dawnthread or duskthread lining without giving up a tier slot. I ran that setup for quite a while at first and now that’s impossible. Bracers and one of the tier slots is the only option without a crafted weapon now that boots, belt, and cloak are reserved. Jewelry has its own separate embellishments that aren’t worth using. One of the best things about crafted gear is the flexibility to use embellished crafted gear in any slot. I’m not a fan of gimmick items to begin with, but this makes it feel worse than azerite with too many reserved slots (4-5 for tier and 3 for s3 gimmick items).

this is why we should remove tier sets tbh immediately frees up a 3rd of our entire item options
Tier is the only borrowed power gear I am fine with. Blizz has tried to remove tier before when azerite was a thing and it didn’t work out. Tier sets were restored sometime during SL iirc.
I don’t want these fancy gimmicks where I have to farm content I don’t want to do to get gems, discs, or whatever else Blizz uses for these gimmicks. I don’t want gear slots reserved for a gimmick for any length of time. Even if I was fine with gimmick items, 3 slots is far too many. It should never be more than one.

4 slots is even more than 1 slot though. removing tier would do a lot more for freeing up gear spaces than other borrowed power. I think it can be confusing to give feedback of “I want borrowed power removed except this borrowed power”
What if, and bear with me, they developed the game with items that are actually interesting, like they were back in Classic, with things like hit/resistances. Since the devs are increasingly lazy though, in lieu of all items being potentially interesting, I guess certain items being somewhat interesting, like the D.I.S.C. Belt, Cyrce’s Circlet, and now… this cloak… is… okay? Again, I would prefer more interesting items for sure, but please don’t unnecessarily “knock” what little cool things they do bother to actually make. (Another “eight boss raid” anyone? (Seven if you (dis)count the optional o.O)).
in no world are hit or resistances interesting stats come on lol
