Serious question - I ask because last night my guild started their weekly raid run. I don’t raid anymore, just run 5 mans. Anyway I wished them good luck and went on to do other things.
Cleaned up the garage a bit
Watched some HULU TV with my wife
Started planning Italy trip
I managed to log in a few hours later and they were still at it. I spent a few minutes chatting and logged out again.
Here is my point:
This week I got a 420 TF Trinket in my chest (yes I deserved it). I didn’t check the weekly, the WB’s, the Warfronts, my table, or Emissaries… This has been going on for a bit now.
Am I the only one feeling a bit meh about the rest of this expansion? I imagine not. What keeps you engaged?
I am sure many of you will say things like Alts, Achievements, Professions…but those things are just replacement wheels for the wheel your current main is on. What I am looking for is that elusive thing that makes you want to log in and play.
I started Feb-March 2017 officially and really my mentality after a while was ,’‘go out of my comfort zone , find a guild , and run content with them instead of pugging ‘cause pugging FOR ME is not fun’’.
So that being a me problem, I’ve lost any motivation or excitement to go out of my way to find a Guild in BFA now after a few failed attempts in Legion.
With the Warfronts not interesting me while switching back every other week (no thanks running rares), Islands with randoms and just in general feels not that engaging and just a slaughter-fest.
Ultimately what keeps me engaged? more like what keeps me logging in, is boredom while feeling more 'n more as to ‘‘why am I wasting time on this, i’ll just be doing world quests again’’
What are the chances this being asked so soon. Just last night I was on the forums and this post, and the people in it, motivated me to go online and play. More importantly, it got me off the couch where I had gotten myself into a bad funk.
Prettyful water and prettyful transmogs and prettyful toy effects and prettyful pets and prettyful forests and prettyful spells and prettyful forms and prettyful vendor items and prettyful sky and prettyful icons and prettyful boats and prettyful explosions and prettyful buildings and prettyful mounts and prettyful monsters and prettyful…
Truth be told, I spend more time in the forums than I do in game now.
Aside from scheduled raid days and the mythic + day, if there isn’t any good Emissary rewards up I just won’t even log in.
(You can check all WQ’s and Emissary through front page of wowhead btw without even needing to log in)
I suppose I just feel like there isn’t anything else really engaging or worth while atm besides raiding and mythic.
Probably because of lackluster rewards, grinding out blue 350’s on wq’s and little lumps of 198 azerite doesn’t feel remotely rewarding for the time invested.
If you want to try the pvp scene a bit, even that is choked up by this horrible bar system for conquest, that does not ever update either. So if you missed a few weeks worth of bars, you are starring at 385 pants as a reward and you know you need to slog through that much more before you ever get caught up to where it is currently at for rewards cough we need a pvp vendor cough
Yea. For me wow is something I play while watching dumb stuff on netflix or youtube.
I used to raid but it would burn me out so fast and it felt like a job once I got all my gear. Now I do what I want when I want. I’ve been leveling a LOT lately with me coming back and unlocking all the BFA allied races (except the KT).
I love transmog. Maybe more than anything else in this game right now. So I like running old content for transmog.
I reached the point where I could not in good conscience continue to support this game and it’s current direction so I’m currently unsubbed. That said I get some amusement from these forums so I’ll continue to participate in them as long as that’s allowed. I cannot see myself ever resubbing unless major changes are made. I won’t bore you with the details of what those things are.
Leveling various alts is much fun for me, as well as doing PvP, that never gets old. Usually I am focused on leveling as many alts as I can to cap each new expansion to experience PvP on various classes and races.
I’ve been catching up on my Raiding with Leashes. I do any dailies that interest me and I have a bunch of alts that need leveling for the heritage armor.
I just do some 5m content and an emmisary here and there. Wow is pretty cheap, so I don’t really feel the need to login a ton just to feel like I got my money’s worth. I’m mostly waiting for 8.2 and the new megadungeon.
Currently? Old Content. Completing Achievements, hunting transmog, mounts, pets, and toys. Leveling alts until I hit WoD. I cannot stand the leveling in Draenor, and Legion is still not Alt friendly.
That is what keeps me logging in.
I don’t like the max grind anymore. I did it for a long time (have been hardcore raider in the past), and to be honest my experience has been that people now have zero tolerance for anything. It’s like work for them, go grind, loot, perfect execution, repeat.
I haven’t found a guild that doesn’t promote clicks, or genuinely includes new members in. It’s sort of yeah we need your class, not your friendship.
