"Boosturds"

If the boost folks made their own channel, I’d never see it.

Thing is general is a general use channel that includes boost advertisement as legit uses. In fact blizzard has even made it noted as allowed there so long as not spammed. See retail when blizzard made clear advertising should not be in the lfg finder plus made a rule on it suggesting the use of general chat or lfg chat. Yes spam is spam if they are spamming there macro like any spam report them. If they do once thou that is not spam. When it becomes spam thou at what rate is subjective so a safe thing to report them for is spam just wouldent go reporting every one you see just the ones that you are seeing often and a lot of they are the main prob anyways.

They don’t need to make there own channel they have one which is general it’s like you have that channel for general use. You can make your own channel for what ever use you want thou if you don’t want to see general messages in general or get one of the many addons that filter boost spam I suggest “bad boy”. That can even be setup to auto report spam I personally use seeing the exact same message 3 or more times per 30 secs.

Ya but there not looking for a group, they are selling a service so technically they need to advert in trade.

Hmm, funny the 100 plus members of my guild would say otherwise. Lfg is the number one medium for guild recruitment as well as finding pugs. Lots of my members are either completely new, returning after years away, or refugees from a dead realm, everyone would rather run instances group lvl appropriate but were conditioned to the idea that boosting would be the only way they would be able to see that content because “no one does classic content”, I run lowbies through dungeons, but I chain pull and teach as I go and familiarize them with the instance so they are more confident to join or form groups.

Looking for group includes anyone looking for members to add to there group including at a price. This includes adding people to there guild as that is a group. So yes looking for group is one on the acceptable channels and was mentioned in that vary message mentioned via blizzard just not the lfg tools when looking at that post. This assumes they are inviting those that pms not just advertising. Which most boost advertisements you see are going to invite you right away if you respond for a run.

Selling a service makes them also able to advertise in trade it dose not preclude them from advertising in lfg they are not mutually exclusive.

80% of these boost sellers are Indonesian Gold Farmers who are independently doing this.

They turn around and sell the gold for a profit. My server is flooded with them and its an endless battle to try to keep them out of the guild.

Why?

Because they get BANNED. For selling gold.

YES. Report them. They sell gold.

Not arguing philisophical points, lfg is flooded with Boosturd spam and causes posts to scroll into the nether within seconds. I just felt that the playerbase causing the issue should have an official title deserving of their actions and contributions to what equates to a chat channel with a neverending DDoS attack. I believe most would agree it’s extremely annoying to see posts scroll offscreen before you look up from hitting enter. It inhibits and roadblocks normal global grouping efforts and essentially is just a dedicated booster channel already, and social interaction is disrupted by mass posting generic boosturd banners. Go ahead and ask why I don’t ignore it because it would skew my ability to effectively gauge the scroll rate of posts so I know how long the avg person will see a post hanging in the window that I have put up.

I prefer the term sellout but whatever works for you.

He,he… too literal and can’t make a good meme out of it. I got flagged for my first inappropriate label, truly though was for the better cause “boosturd” is soo much better to make corny puns with and who wouldn’t agree that Boosturd runs lack fiber and flood chat with crap that overflows like a plugged toilet.

quality boomer zinger you got there.

Gen x, boomer would have been a knee slapper,

maybe if blizzard let people boost the new class to 58 already they wouldn’t need to use SM booting

Paying a player for a service for in game gold is supported and the backbone of the wow economy

Yes, but unchecked boost services have reached a Tipping point where it was just a side note to causing issues raging from spam to devaluing goods from a supply surplus and causing deflation. Boosturds are just leeches fleecing the playerbase and make no real contribution to supporting a healthy playerbase. I’m not debating legal semantics because it’s perfectly fine and within tos. It’s a slimey way to make gold, imo and the endless generic spam just shows them for the selfish anti-social grubbers that they are. That’s just my opinion

One could make an argument that it violates the language in the ToS. The issue is that Blizzard won’t put their foot down.

This feels reductive to me. Paying someone cor a couple runs to help your twink toon, to get quests done… That’s one thing.

Paying to be leveled from 10-70 while AFK feels off.

Learning the all the boosts as a mage now without consumes or enchants is more fun and challenging than 80% of all the raids put together.

And so what?

They made cross realm dungeon finder because clearly people in 2009 didn’t want to level the normal way.

Without boosters I wouldn’t have alts

You don’t deserve those alts.

Lol, peeps think they can justify their way out of being a poser, lol sorry but I just gave a label to how a majority of real players view Boosturds and their chat spam, Right below getting robo calls about vehicle warranty expiring.
