Boosting = RMT

People paying for boosts are paying with real money, plain and simple.
50-60 in ZG costs anywhere from $50 upwards at the very minimum, with gold that is obviously purchased because someone lazy enough to get boosted is too lazy to farm gold.

Anyone who boosts or gets boosted should receive a permanent hardware ban for participating in RMT. End of story. No ifs ands or buts. Its really that straight forward.

Agreed stop boosting and ban Blizzard boosts from TBC as well!!!

We need to stop the RMT.

At this point I’d entertain the idea of blizzard boosts in TBC anni just to see how it would destroy the boosting ‘community’. But its still a negative overall because it gives bot farms a fast and economical way to get their bots up to a good level.

At the end of the day Blizzard doesnt care because all they want to do is sell subs.

Blizzard doesn’t make subscription money off of bots champ.

Bots farm in retail to buy game time. They don’t pay for subscriptions.

Or if they do they buy them in countries where they cost a small fraction of what we pay using stolen credit cards that often get charged back to Blizzard.

A former GM confirmed Blizzard loses money dealing with bots. They do not make money from bots.

If you think botters are buying subscriptions with their own money you are insane.

Let me be clear from the outset. I agree with you that boosting is bad for the game and would like to see it removed. Blizzard has experimented with this in other versions of the game, adding xp penalties and/or additional mechanics to mobs that m

I don’t think that’s a guaranteed. An RMT environment inflates the economy, allowing players don’t don’t purchase directly to get a lot of it which they can then spend on boosts. I don’t think that’s good, but I definitely want to be wary of the labeling everybody who pays for a boost as gold buyers.

Permanent ban for RMT, 100%! I think Blizz is way too lax on this. There’s talk of a week or two suspension… which is clearly not a sufficient deterrent. I don’t think that level of action against boosters is appropriate though. However, I would like to see anti-boosting changes return in C+.

I do think it’s a difficult line to walk though. Like, an easy seeming change is one I mentioned above, nerfing XP gains when the level delta is too high. However, that wouldn’t really stop ZG boosting. I’m not sure if it’s still a thing, but strat live boosting was also a place people went. Players who are level 55 should be able to group with 60’s when doing a dungeon, just to make sure dungeon groups are accessible.

I also think that the mob changes are kind of awkward too. Like, in a boosting context the ones where they break CC/slowing effects are really good! However, a mage should still be able to solo Maraudon if they want to for money/resources. That’s just a perk of being a mage!

That doesn’t mean Blizzard shouldn’t iterate on those design changes, just that I think care needs to be taken to ensure that people can still have fun while also preventing a boost selling economy from getting too out of hand. With that said, I know for anti-GDKP they said they have means of detecting when money changes hands for runs, and GDKP has been effectively eliminated on versions where that ban is enforced. Logically, they should be able to do the same for boosts. So perhaps just banning the sale of boosts is enough. People can still boost their friends for free if they want to, I don’t really mind that, just the monetization of it.

Yeah have a look at the boosting discord they value the price of boosts bases on $ per hour etc and translate that into gold

Klonknflonk, where are you!?

/signed for nerfs to boosting

Yep. Boosting in general should be banned, or they should take extreme measures to make it MUCH more difficult to do and far less efficient.

Banning requires enforcement or there’s no point. And Blizzard already enforces existing rules in a sloppy manner unbecoming of a (once) AAA developer.

The anti-boosting mechanics that were trialed duringSeason of Mastery were a sufficient first step.

You mean to tell me when someone makes their first toon and magically has enough gold to boost right to 60 that they did something potentially against TOS… No way.
Just make mages and pallys aoe abilitys only hit X targets. Or make the mobs reset in dungeons if pulled too far away from their spawn point. Both fixes that would take a first year college student about 15 seconds to implement. But Blizzard doesn’t care plain and simple.

correct
but its legal
this is a 10 year old ‘problem’ that’s not really a problem at all
maybe you’re all new to the game, I should be more empathetic

Cutting corners, getting around actual work, earning your way/what you have, being carried, having people do things for you, and whatever other name this applies to, by any method, are all different names for boosting.

You are so wrong its hilarious.
How are tokens bought from blizzard? What does buying a token with gold mean for blizzard?
Also, bot farms create new accounts and subscribe so they can go ahead and buy level boosts for current classic expansion and have their bots farming gold faster.
Blizzard most certainly makes money from bot farms.

Weird an actual GM who worked there and was part of these discussion says you are wrong.

Why would a Blizzard employee who fails at their job of banning rule breakers that “cost Blizzard money” ever lie about such a thing? It’s not as if subscription numbers are the only metric Blizzard has to show the shareholders, right?

Because he was a former Blizzard employee when interviewed and could say whatever he wanted.

Stay mad you are wrong.

It’s funny how mad you  get when proven wrong.

Yep. Blizzard didn’t make any money from bots farms buying the level 58 boost the day TBCC pre-patch dropped. They didn’t make a single dollar.

They dont’ make money from bots.

Not only do bottter use STOLEN CREDIT CARDS to pay for their accounts those fees usually get charged back to Blizzard by the credit card companies.

So they have to pay back the fradulent charges, pay people to handle these issues, and pay people to find and ban botters.

Not to mention all the customer service to answer appeals from mad botters they banned, etc.

They 100% lose money and reptuation because of botters and would never allow botters in the game for subscription money.

You are a naive person with no understanding of what you are talking about.

You are just some random pleb behind your keyboard typing random words.

If blizzard wants to get rid of all bots all at once so they never show up again, they would.
There is an extremely easy way to pull this off.

No there isn’t or they would do it.
