Hi, I think the answer to the problem with excessive boosting is simply have a Looking for dungeon (LFD) feature like in retail. Player’s don’t want to quest because the servers are so full and there’s so much high level ganking. All we need is LFD to say level 50. The end game is fine.
An LFD feature would kill boosting.

I’d say the boosting is actually more impactful 50-59, especially when you have the benefit of getting rep and XP from ZG grinds.
I find that lower level dungeons, up to around 40ish, are probably less inclined to boost because there’s just a ton of people doing dungeons. That’s just an opinion on that matter, but there’s no need for a LFD feature.
People group just fine or do questing primarily if not alternatively to dungeons.

I’ve been leveling as much as I can and am almost 39, I see a lot of advertising for boosts buts it’s mostly Scarlet Monastery-Mauradon-ZG with a few Zul’farraks and Shadowfang throw in.
I personally don’t have a problem on whitemane making groups normally, sometimes it may take like 15 minutes to find the one I want but there’s others in my lvl range and I’m just picky because I want certain items (gauntlets of divinity are a pain in the butt)
I don’t think LFD will change boosting, it seems to pick up a lot in the 30s probably because that’s when you run out of green quests and levelling slows down as NPCs start to get stronger and you run into contact with the opposing faction more often (pvp server only) boosters are typically people who have a ton of gold who don’t want to do the grind again and are trying to circumvent it, having LFD won’t really change their desire because they’d still prefer to pay a mage or whatever a bunch of gold to farm exp for them.
Short Version -
If they’re given the option of putting a 60 on follow, letting him do the work or sitting down and doing the grind themselves, many boostees will still choose boosting because it’s simply less effort on their part, pay for run, tab out of game and watch something else while you gain exp effort free and probably faster than you normally would.
Just stand outside the SM portals for about 5 minutes and watch the trains of characters being boosted running between them.
An LFD feature would kill boosting.
So yo are proposing a 14-50 LFD?
I don’t think it would have the effect you want. Take the SM boosts I referred to above . The Mage is making around 200g per boost and if they are fast can probably make 1000g per hour. The characters being boosted just stand in the first hall and get a massive shot of XP as the Mage brings everything they rounded up close enough and nukes it down. I believe they have a Weak Aura they use that hooks them onto the Mage and they go do whatever while he drags them around. It is a lot of XP, and they can just keep feeding the Mage 50g to do it again.
Seems to me like players have tons of gold and are willing to let someone else do all the work to level their character up for them. I’m curious what it costs to boost to high levels like that, but on Era I’m certain there are plenty who can afford it because there is just way too much gold in the game.
Only because of the amount of botting and boosting that is going on in Era I say that an LFD that ends around the high 40s might be no worse than what we have.
The main things that made LFD bad was being cross realm. I hear that in retail you are a weirdo if you actually say something in chat in a LFD rando group. That’s thanks to things like LFD which virtually makes dungeons single player. Because Era servers are combined maybe it could work in Era. I don’t think it is appropriate but I won’t have a big problem with it either since neither Blizzard or the players seem to care much about the integrity of the game.
What is excessive boosting?
I wondered that myself.
Maybe excluding guild or friend groups that aren’t advertizing/selling but still “boosting” or running through?
idk
The number of people looking for boosts has actually gone down quite a lot over the last few months… BUT on the inverse of that, the amount of ganking has indeed gone up.
When I say “Ganking” specifically talking about geared 60’s killing players who’re lower level, that effectively have a 0% chance to win. (even though its technically PVP on a PVP server)
Is it really the Vanilla experience without geared 60s killing lowbies who can’t even hit them back?
Haven’t seen or heard about much camping though, bunch of care bears.

Dude, I am kinda regretting rolling alliance on Era… Shoulda just stuck with horde. Allies right now have no PvP’rs and its immensely frustrating. 4 months ago PvP on either side was decent; lots of talent on both sides. Only thing allies needed were some healers so I made a pala to heal… by the time I got my pala to 60 the alliance is in shambles, does not use CC, cant do damage, and still no healers because you try and heal them and they never peel, never CC, never interrupt. They only run away, its tilting AF.

Hopefully that will change once Aug 24th comes around. =)

Dude I hope so… Allies suck so bad outside of full pre-mades… Tho from the looks of it the horde coming up are kinda bad too… Maybe it will balance out?
You cant really judge it now because only ones that are really queue’n are those trying to get that last push for high ranks. I havent touch a bg in weeks and its killing me but I dont want to get farmed by super sweaty horde neither. lol =)

I wonder if the new PvP system will make BG’s actually popular…
The new PVP system will absolutely make PVP more popular, at least more than now and for a while, but I’ve heard the same thing about alliance pugs just not being great before so who knows there.

Alliance PvP in era is in a bad state… I had no idea it was so bad until i got my pala to 60
That’s really too bad, maybe by some miracle better alliance PVPers will come in with the new PVP system but it will probably be still about sticking to premades.
I could log on at some point with my cloned ally 60s and PVP but I don’t know if I want to. LOL.
If you do, find Styles or myself, I have 2 alliance characters now, and styles has 3. We both re-rolled fully Alliance for Era. Likely going back Horde when SoM2 comes out; you should join us. Styles is tons of fun, dude isn’t toxic in the world pvp but not a care bear either; perfect mix of PvP and questing… Guy levels hella fast too.

LFD wont change boosting at all what a ignorant take lol.
People go afk, use weakauras addon with /follow etc, they essentially just pay boost and go do other stuff.
People that are boosting wouldnt even be playing if they couldnt boost.
I learned long ago that players like to feel they are cheating the system and whitout a doubt one of the reason soo many people do it and like it is this one.
The players that wanted to level doing dungeons and quests like i did are out there doing it.
