Boosting for gold

Hey ! Quick question, on anniversary realms, is boosting for gold still accepted? I’m getting close to 60 on my paladin and I consider trying that to get some much needed gold, but I don’t want to get banned or anything.

Anniversary Classic World of Warcraft servers should not allow Leveling Boosting Services for Gold.

Blizzard needs to ban Leveling Boosting Services for Gold.

The real classic playerbase does not want pay to win features or avenues available in the game.

Thanks for your answer, but it’s not clear to me if you are referring to what you think should be done for the game or if it’s based on official rules. As I said, I’m considering the option.

EDIT : nevermind, I found the answer. Basically, it can lead to actions and it’s not really clear what can trigger those actions. I have my answer, my account to too precious to risk it.

All 10 of them.

To the best of my knowledge it is allowed.

Pretty sure using player skill to pull dungeons as a skill expression is the literal highlight of classic and the thing most classic players love. As someone who played in Vanilla, you’re wrong and don’t attempt to speak for me.

There are no rules against boosting. However there are areas around it which can be problematic.

  • Boosting is considered a service, if your advertising, you should only advertise in the services channel, advertising in LFG or Trade will get your account action, if even a single person reports you which is likely to happen, and it won’t matter if the advertisement was a mistake and only done once.
  • Additionally while boosting itself is fine, another challenge you can face is simply getting paid. If people pay you with legitimate gold, you have nothing to worry about, however if you are boosting a player, where they bought gold, if they then give that gold to you, this makes you an active participant into RMT, and if the gold the player has is identified as bad gold, your accepting it will result in an account action if Blizzard identifies the transactions in their sweeps.

So ultimately yes, there is nothing wrong with boosting itself, but if you do it there are multiple areas which can result in actions on your account, and where it would be highly unlikely that any appeal would invalidate the action.

That part is weird to me. Let’s say I’m trying to sell an item (let’s say a sword I crafted) in the trade channel. The player that buys it bought it with gold from a gold seller, wouldn’t that be the exact same situation? I have no ways of knowing where the gold came from.

Solid point.

Yes, if you trade someone directly for RMT gold your account is at risk whether you know about it or not. While its currently unknown how far Blizzard will action accounts and at what point they feel the gold is no longer tainted enough to action on, people should always be wary of making transactions especially on the Anniversary servers where they are getting gold from unknown sources, especially any transactions with low level accounts or “bank alts” which would likely be common when boosting.

From Blizzards perspective its likely there is very little difference between legitimate transfers, RMT, and where the sellers swap gold around to launder it and try to make their dirty gold clean when they deal with dirty gold, all all they likely see is that you made a transaction where you accepted X amount of dirty gold.

So ultimately, make the decisions you feel comfortable with, just be aware of the risks. For selling items, if its a high value item personally I would use the AH, to limit exposure and risk.

Thanks, I understand better now. I’m glad I read that!

Then how come the LFG chat is a sh1tshow of paid service advertisements

The advertising rules only are enforced on the Seasonal servers not ERA (not sure about SOD), additionally Blizzard does not proactively look at chat for offenses of any type. They only look at chat offenses which someone reports, most reviews will be within about 24-48 hours, so the actions are rarely seen in realtime, giving the impression sometimes that nothing happens.

Unfortunately chat bans/suspensions also sometimes have limited impact. The problem is seen with the boosting services run by the botters, most of their advertising won’t be done with real accounts, but with burner accounts which are only setup as temporary shells simply to advertise, and which they can replace just as fast as they get banned, that said its still worth reporting them, as it does help create links to their overall networks.

I would suggest taking the boosting payment on a 2nd account and boosting on your main account.

Extra layer in case of bad actors.

Boosting people is a headache, I would just do the SM paladin farms without the boosts its still really good gold and you don’t have to worry about anything.

Yeah, I searched for alternative ways to farm gold and SM seems like a very good option for paladins!

The real answer is:

  1. It’s not against the rules in any way (I wish it where)
  2. You can still get banned for it, because the system is nearly entirely automated and blizzard can’t be bothered to give a damn… If enough report you, you’re boned.

Easiest way to trigger #2 is to undercut the other boosters, as very few people will care enough to report you.

Those 10 are going to love the service to come. Tank charge, a soon to come tbc feature.
Again.

Want a tank, pay the tank. I can be nice here, these players may want to save up for mana tombs. that was usually extra.

Good news to make them happiers is its not a carry/boost. Its just to be there And This is why in tbcc boosting really took off lol.

the booster was charging 50 gold. Sit by the door, chill…

Tanks were also charging 50g. you work the dungeon, some even HR’ing stuff.

One was better off paying the booster. Same price and even if they rolled on gear you had a chance to win it. 5 dudes roll need, 1/5 chance to win. HR is no chance.

Coming Soon™: Boosting Crypts for that stupid Dexterity enchant. :expressionless:
