Alright this isn’t your average “BOOST BAD” thread.
No this is a player problem, boosting is a serious problem that needs resolved somehow such as if there is a way high level in the group exp needs to be practically 0.
Why do I say this? I’ve been trying to run Stockades for 2 days now legit way with people all in their 20’s. While trying to form these groups I get multiple tells from boosters saying how they will run us through for 3 or 4 gold per person.
Now you would think a simple “No thanks I want to do it legit” would be fine for these people however it’s not often times they will harass you with tells because you refuse to pay for a run calling you cheap repeatedly to the point you need to put them on ignore or telling you to just go quest if you don’t want to pay and you don’t DESERVE to do the instance since you’re not willing to pay.
Something needs done about this crap. Now I’m sure you could say “Well you don’t need to buy the boost from them” and that’s the point I’m not going to the problem is they harass people who want to do things legit.
Instance boosting is definitely a polarizing topic. Either you love it or hate it. I always form REAL groups for dungeons, because I personally do not like it. But I have never had boosters be rude to me, ever. In fact, one even offered to run my group for free!
I completely agree, but the funny thing is… the people who are against the paid boost, are also the exact same people who are against any change to this player boosting as well. This meta is worse than the meta to actually buy a boost tbh. Because at least the people who are leveling without it all actually are there because they want that experience.
There’s a handful of addons out there that allow you to blacklist words in chat. Add boost and buff on there if you are leveling and see how much better your chat gets.
I was questing out in Redridge and someone offered to run me through stocks for free but since I was doing the elite quests with a group. I declined.
If people want to buy that’s fine, but I get the feeling that there is a stigma in the community that basically anyone playing a low level is an alt so if you don’t buy a boost from these people they assume you’re cheap and harass you.
Regardless it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I didn’t notice it all that much until I started trying to do stockades which is right within Stormwind.
These are actually direct tells from people when I’m trying to form the group. So while it will handle the people advertising I think it won’t work to well for tells.
You don’t like the way someone spoke to you about a subject, so that subject needs to be removed from the game?
I cannot imagine anyone taking the time to harass you just for saying no. I’m willing to bet, with the animosity you’ve shown here about boosting, you responded with a little more than a polite no. If the story is even real, that is.
Also, if anyone ever told me that I don’t deserve to do an instance legit if I can’t/don’t want to be boosted, I would genuinely laugh at such silly words. That would let me know I’m not dealing with someone I want to actually talk to. Or someone who’s opinion should concern me.
Is it hard? No of course not but that’s not the issue I have with it. It’s the simple fact that if I’m forming a group I state we need a tank or healer then it’s that simple my group requires one of them we do not require someone trying to take advantage of people who are trying to do the instance normally. Then when I say no we don’t want a boost they have the gull to claim that I’m being cheap and if I want to level go someplace else and that I don’t deserve to do instances unless I’m paying to do them.
This that is my problem it’s this entitled attitude like you’re not allowed to do anything unless you pay which is bull.
I was polite however when you get called cheap and told you don’t deserve to do it because you’re not willing to pay my “No we want to do it legit” did turn into frustration and I did put them on ignore, but it was not just 1 person who seemed to be like this. I believe that it’s the mentality of the community that there are no such things as new players to classic so everyone has money you’re just refusing to pay.
And yes I believe that if this is the type of atmosphere that boosting is building it’s a toxic one that does need removed from the game as it is not beneficial to the community. If you believe that degrading players who desire to play the game legitimately is not toxic then you are part of the problem.
A bunch of people are coming to classic for TBC and these people are just trying to capitalize on these players and when they don’t get what they want they turn to insults. It’s not constructive it’s destructive to the community.
At the very end of the games cycle, you can’t find people to run entry level dungeons. Duh.
That’s not a boosting problem, it’s a timing problem. Ignore/ Report people you don’t want to talk to or who harass you. But nothings gonna change until pre-patch launches. In which case you will probably be able to run plenty of leveling dungeons with all the new races/classes running around.
I’m not sure if blizzard will make a change. I do agree that something needs to happen.
I think if you want to levels a character from 1 to 60 then do it in pre-patch. You will have more people leveling. I also think maybe the 1st month of TBC might be active as well. Issue is when everyone gets to 70 they might not want to level alts. I think profession alts only need to be level 60 for 350 skill.
So I say take the opportunity to level all you’re characters in pre-Patch.
Boosting, both from mages and a paid service. Both solve a problem, leveling sucks and the majority of people don’t care for it. Plus once you hit the end of a expansion, the likelihood that people are around your level drops and makes it harder to find those players without a LFG system to bring in multiple servers.
It’s the way of the world, it sucks for the ones that enjoy leveling the old way… but not much you can really do about it without changing the core of the game.
Your ability to not get a group in stockades, and boosting really have little to do with each other. If people wanted to run stockades they would, they don’t, people would rather level outside of stockades.
There is almost nothing of value inside that instance and the quests around it are poorly designed so its difficult to pick up the quests for it at the appropriate level. Its simply easier and faster to level outside of stockades unless your getting a boost. That wont change.
Its really one of the big problems with classic/vanilla, most of the instances were poorly designed and poorly positioned level wise. This one in a lot of ways is near the bottom do to the trash loot and quest issues.
Funny thing is, i’ve never seen nor heard of boosters being mean when somebody says “no thanks not interested” but i’ve seen / heard about low levels being rude to a 60 when they won’t boost them.
A few guildies used to casually farm ZF for gold and were constantly getting tells from people asking for boosts. At least once an hour they would post SS of person X giving a rude entitled rant about how the mage won’t boost them.
But FYI, the entitled responses people give are not a boosting thing, they are a culture thing. Look no further than people who walk into a grocery store (A BUSINESS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY) and refuse to wear a mask cause “I’ve got rights!”.
If i can’t walk into your house and take a dump on your pillow, you can’t walk into my business without a mask on. Private property is private property.
