Boosted Players Everywhere

How do you feel about the amount of boosted players running around? It’s getting a tad exhausting needing to vet every single player coming to my raids. I think the Gearscore addon is cringe, but I’m not bringing a 390 Hunter to vacuum up all the loot while floor tanking.

Do we think this is healthy for the longevity of SoD? Every night I login and see more boosting advertisements than groups forming for the level-up raids and dungeons. I can’t believe they let this stay in the game as long as it has.

If I was a betting man, I’d say gold-buying has sky-rocketed this phase. Between the cost of everything in P8 and all the boostie boys, you ain’t farming all that. One of my guildies told me the other night he’s sitting on 30k just from selling boosts in the past few weeks.

I am fine with boosted players as it increases the amount of active players…HOWEVER…they need to realize dungeons and reals are a thing. No, you arent going to get invited to AQ40, Naxx, SE (lol) and get carried in greens.

Stop being lazy and put some effort into your toon.

I would prefer people level in incursions but I think if people want to boost their friends and family I see no issue with it.

as for Boosting mafias sure yeah get them out of the game. I encountered one boosting group who would run an opposite faction pvp-er to discourage farming at the same site. It’s hilarious to kill them but also just a bit of a shady move by them overall.

I actually enjoy bringing fresh toons to raids like zg and funneling them all the gear while pumpers soak up idols. I’d rather the gear get used, otherwise I’m just going to vendor and DE all the gear at the end. That said im not bringing someone with 0 sanctified gear, no seal and lvl 40 greens into hm naxx or SE unless they are the designated summoner/wild strikes or something.

What’s the exp bonus? 150%? I wonder at what percent people will just play the game instead of buying boosts.

Incursion dailies are absolutely busted too. I hope they unlock those for classic+ once u hit 60 on a main

I just think it’s strange that everyone complained about Incursions streamlining the leveling process and now everyone is selling or buying 60 boosts. I’ve said this before, but the Classic community is the most contradictive community in gaming. They don’t want the token or the store boost, but they’ll gladly buy from G2G or pay a Shaman to afk to 60.

Just put the store boost in SoD at this point. At least Blizzard will be making the money which will greatly incentivize further Classic+ dev. That’s the whole reason we got Cata and now MoP.

At least with incursions, everyone is one a fair playing field, you have to group up and actually learn to press your spells. You’re actually playing the game. You get to progress, learn and gear your character without just AFKing to max.

Side note: one of my guildies told me last night that the Paladin discord has been flooded with new Paladins who are buying boosts just so they can sell boosts at 60. -_-

They complain about gatekeeping when you don’t let them leech in greens.

Its always fun trying to do a 40 man MC reals run that struggles to find 3 people with douses. And has to rez 6 dps after every trash pull because they literally get 1 shot by aoe.

I think boosting is fine so long as the gold is clean. While the fresh 60’s running into MC is a pain it’s also a catch-up raid at this point. I would expect guilds helping their fresh 60 guild mates out though instead of abandoning them to pug. I would say expect A LOT of it though with people bringing their friends into SoD due to SE coming out. Plus with possibly more content coming I don’t see us desperate for new players anymore… so long as it’s not overtuned again. Definitely be expected to inspect people though CONSTANTLY without an add-on unfortunately.

Did a BWL this week where we barely had enough dps to kill the adds when Nef landed because the entire raid was hiding behind the throne.

I hate it they should have nerfed the surge boosting into the ground day one now you have to deal with boosted people in greens and grays hell they don’t even have a full set of gear in AQ20, BWL ,dragons and AQ40.

This needs some better guidance. I stopped playing my hunter and went to work on my warrior because I’m not sure what I should be doing to keep my hunter going as others point out - no gear no invite.

Should I be running dungeons, then to raids, then…? What’s the best path here for a fresh (not boosted btw) 60?

I’ll go see what wowhead has - I’ve been wondering about it anyway.

Yes run dungeons for reals to buy at least full T1 or T1 and what T2 you can buy from the reals vendor but don’t forget to get neck, rings. trinkets and a cloak from dungeons.

Pretty sure everyone was pining for blizz to block boosting a long while ago but got shouted down.

You reap what you sow.

We had a pug join our AQ run and had gray level 1 gear some level 10 greens, no helm no shoulders, a level 5 green weapon, and a bunch of other missing slots.

I gave him 500 gold lol.

Balls of steel. It was brilliant.

Hi Agrias!

You have several options for gearing your hunter in sod.

#1 priority would be finding a guild you vibe with.

#2 is doing the scarlet activities quest and getting into scarlet enclave with a disguise to see the weekly quest given in the fort there. You should be able to acquire some reals and fragments of SE tier from there along with mats with a small investment of crafted gear.

The biggest goal right now for fresh 60s is to acquire Sanctified Gear. This is made easier by running Karazhan crypts (and other activities) which you can acquire the proper gear to run it by doing the following:

If you are a fresh lvl 60 I would highly recommend prioritizing doing MC runs when possible. You should be able to find a pug on the major servers.
When MC is on cooldown, see if you are able to join a ZG or a small AQ run to put those lockouts on cooldown as well.

If you are not able to join any of these or they are on cooldowns you should prioritize running Strat and scholo as you will acquire argent dawn rep while earning reals.

Once you have reached a critical mass of mc-zg-bwl gear start attempting to find AQ40 and karazhan groups. You can try sneaking into aq40 stuff earlier as well

As I said, the biggest jumpstart to your gear progression is going to be any Sanctified Gear. While you are not in instances content, consider doing Invasions in EPL where you will gain remnants and argent dawn rep. And earning enough remnants (up to 3150) to get yourself a seal. There’s a number of ways to acquire this. Karazhan is the most consistent way while random drops may also help. There’s also some guaranteed vendored argent dawn gear and some glacial sets. You can also earn a tier set bonus by just doing quests associated with these invasions which is a huge power spike.

From here, run naxx and aq40 and Kara until you are extremely close to pre-scarlet enclave bis. By this time you might even have several pieces of tier from there.

Use your gold judiciously to purchase highly valued trinkets or armor slots you just can’t seem to fill. My favorite spots to fill on my alts are cloaks and 1 trinket from the AQ phase.

Hope this helps,
Thor

I don’t care at all. It doesn’t bother me or impact me.

Why is this an issue other than you wanting to be the arbiter of morality in which people get “allowed” gear. If the hunter is dead on every boss and you’re still clearing AND he’s getting all the loot then clearly you:

a. Didn’t need him to begin with.
b. Didn’t need the loot.

So what’s the problem? If he shows up extremely undergeared and dies a lot, put in a restriction on gear for players that die too often, or just kick him for performance, or don’t bring him at all.

I think what is bad for the longevity of SoD is this desire to exclude people from gearing up new characters and getting themselves into raids because of arbitrary requirements, thus preventing the growth of the playerbase.

I think a good way to fix the scourge of new 60s without gear that want to raid, is to remove all the attunements.

As in, remove them from MC/BWL/Ony, etc…so that way, players can have an alternative way to gear up in raids before hitting up Naxx and SE. Keep the attunement for Naxx though, but the older content can do without in phase 8.

I wouldn’t object.

Came here to say all this, but you said it well. The game needs a fresh influx of players constantly to stay alive and even if someone isn’t contributing at the same level as better geared players, they are still helping out.

We need to be more generous with our fellow WoW players. No one suddenly came into existence fully purpled. We all have to start somewhere.

Also, guilds don’t always work for all players. And a lot of guilds literally ignore new members. They can be very cliquish.
