Boosted Player here, let's discuss some things

My son was about 10 years old when WotLK came out. He rolled a DK called elephantbutt. He started running his own pug raids to ninja loot gear

lol dks

Okay. Okay. Let’s dissect your little argument one by one.

And yet here you are. Maybe some players quit over it, but did they lose more than they gained? If so, they wouldn’t have done it lol.

Blizzard doesn’t give us statistics. We can only guestimate based on population sites, shady addons and stock quarterlies. So I will give you this, BOTH OF US DON’T KNOW, that’s the end of that.

Classic peaked long before this lawsuit. There’s a market for classic, but it’s a niche one. I’m not sure what you expected to happen here, but the golden age of MMO’s is over. Of the millions of players that played TBC when it was current, we have a tiny fraction of that now. They didn’t refuse to come back because of boosting.

And what gives you that idea? Once again, we lack statistical information, they stopped at the end of MoP/WoD… I’m willing to bet my left nut that a lot of players did stop because of boosting however. Whichever way you look at it, it was a cash grab pure and simple. This was never about the players.

Classic era was not picking up players months after launch either. It peaked, normalized, and then slowly dropped off. I know you don’t want to believe that, but that trend is continue until the servers are shut down for good.

We don’t know if the population has stabilized or normalized at this point. Wrath was the “peak” of the game, TBC saw the most “growth”, the reason we know that is we can go back, look at subscriber counts and indicate that. But that’s not the case anymore.

So long story short, stop talking out of your behind.

That is fairly damning.

Really?

Hmm, I usually think of someone putting a heavy burden atop someone else and so “hoist” that onto them…

I guess “foisted” might work too.

I never said it was illegal, I said people who play on private servers are thieves.

You’ll just have to live with that.

Most of your op was basically statements about you and your son having fun playing, how well he’s learning etc. That’s awesome, enjoy. :slightly_smiling_face:

It invalidates content. This is an RPG, you work to advance your character. I think people might assume you are less invested in the game by doing this.
Nothing worthy to spit about though IMO, that honor is reserved for people who fish in my nodes and try to tap an ore I’m mining. :smirk_cat:

I think a lot of the people upset over blizzard’s boosts are the one selling boost dungeon runs for low levels. It cuts into their gold profit so they gotta screech about it.

Then I’d have to believe that the company makes decisions that will knowingly cost them money. If boosting was causing a large number of players to quit, they’d scrap the boosting. You don’t have to like it, but the game has peaked. People went back to retail for 9.1, people quit because of HvH, people quit because of server imbalance, and who knows what other reasons.

About the players? When has that ever been the case lol? You have sort of a romanticized idea of what makes these companies tick. They only ever cared about your money. Everything else is PR.

Oh I feel terrible, just terrible. Woe is me.

Good.

You deserve to.

90+ responses can only be described as a successful bait.

But yeah, obviously the boost has been terrible for the game and goes against the very tenets and principles of Old WoW. But Blizz made a bunch of money (and continue to from bots buying them). So that’s all that really matters.

For many reasons I was against the boost. There are several problems that came from this that are clearly evident now. It did accelerate faction imbalance. It has been a useful tool for bots and gold farmers. It might be a slippery slope if Blizzard keeps moving down this road.

However, if its in the game and you are still playing this game I don’t get why anyone would badger another player for taking this option. Get over it or move on.

Mostly, I understand it has positive and negative effects. Players using it to get the class they want is a positive effect. I wouldn’t because I recall getting free boosts in retail and I could never get into those characters. Funny how that works. Leveling was one of the best parts of Classic WoW but with all the boosts its a ghostland out there before TBC stuff. That would be a big negative.

Anyways, against Blizz implementing the boosts, wouldn’t do it myself, don’t bother people who use it if its in the game.

I actually dislike boosts for one very important reason. They leave the leveling areas empty after the initial server opening. Some of the best parts of the game happen in those levels and many people won’t get to experience them as easily due to the lack of people in those zones. It is a HUGE issue.

Sunken Temple is 52. You should have had a 58 green set. As far as it hurting the game goes; you’re nuking the low level population. Those that do not boost get to play in an empty world because everyone else boosted. Blizzard’s “solution” was to prohibit boosting on the new races… which would mean very little.

it was ended when the game was released. move on.

It is kind of annoying to be in a group with a fresh boost because you end up carrying them. The gear is so bad so it’s not your fault. But please do some hellfire quests for some gear.

I actually went out and bought some of the high-quality level 58 greens from the AH before I started doing dungeons. That included 2x fist weapons which I had to skill up, but eventually I was able to keep up with the others.

Point being, I didn’t want to hold anyone back, so I improved myself.

Anyone walking into Ramps with Communal gear might as well be wearing a big sign on their chest that says, “CARRY ME!”

I’m with ya, OP. People are frustrated they can’t recreate the past, rose colored as it is… >.>

Since TBC and WOTLK launched, I’ve wanted WoW to look like it does in 2021 retail, with the transmog system and outfit choices of today… Even just modern character models in a classic wow setting would be a dream come true but I’m probably never going to get that, bc of the past-purists that demand blizz recapture their youth.

Fine, I can cope and still try to enjoy classic… running simulator and time sink that it is. I really don’t get where people get off taking it personally if someone wants to boost their kid or boost themselves because they want to experience outland without the vanilla experience. None of us know when we’re going to die… do we want to risk spending our final hours playing a part of the game we despise or something that we enjoy? :stuck_out_tongue:

OH YEAH BABY! LETS GO Its time to party!
