Im in a Mists +11 today and the Resto Shaman is 2700+ rated… as soon as we get in the key he asked when we should lust and that was the first warning sign. During the first boss he doesn’t have Tremor totem and is doing no joke 10kdps. We then get to the maze and he eats frontals, doesn’t dispel people or kick mobs and isn’t even doing the maze for us… hes essentially useless.
I then ask him if he can do the maze and he says no “healers do too much” as he sits in one spot not doing any damage and basically no healing either… I got so annoyed I asked him if he was boosted and I ended up leaving the key… I think he paid for his IO and honestly I dont want to help him get anymore IO because he doesn’t deserve it and is not even attempting to get better at the game… why is it okay for people to toss keys like this but as soon as i say hes not good and leave im the bad guy? seems a bit warped.
If you tell these players they are bad I get in trouble for ruining their gaming experience but aren’t they ruining other peoples by being boosted and trying to do content they are not good enough to do? Should I just pretend to be worse then they are and toss the key that way so I dont get in trouble? Seems like a backwards system.

Nothing wrong with asking when to lust, there are different routes, different weeks and sometimes people like it at boss or thrash or whenever else. Lust is not super fixed. Not having tremor totem is definitely an issue at a 10 though and for the first boss there is definitely time to dps so there is that.
In regards to the maze it is a group effort, asking someone to do it themselves without any add-ons is silly and even with it it goes faster if people help. I never bother trying to do the maze until I know the tank and the group can properly do the group adds and it is obnoxious if I’m in a group trying to get all the answers myself.
However if he was doing no dps when he could(like the big mini bosses in there) or appropiate healing with the group adds that would be a warning sign for sure.
There is a level of expectation for everybody in a 10 and if they do not meet even the basic requirements then I wouldn’t feel too bad leaving either.

He just had an attitude about it… like he was the type of person to be on the forums crying about healers having to do damage in M+ and refusing to do it… and hes queuing for +11 keys… like I dont understand it. If you aren’t going to get better and improve at the game then just stay in your low level keys and stop ruining higher keys for people. I asked him if he had the maze WA and he just goes “nah” like he couldn’t be bothered… its insane the trash that plays this game.
so frustrating

Asking about lust is fine… People have different preferences for when to lust.
On the rest though, I agree. If someone has no clue how to do mechanics and there is no mention of this being a carry before the key starts, then I feel you have the right to bail.
I was going to do a +10 DB where no mention was ever made that we would be carrying anyone. Everyone was 2500-3000 io, so I thought it would be a smooth run.
I noticed the dps warrior doing 1/2 of the healer’s damage and dying every pull. I asked if this was a carry run and no one responded. Got to the first boss, warrior dies on pull, healer BR’s him and he dies again. This makes six deaths the warrior has had and I have had enough, so I leave the key.
He whispered me and said hes reporting me because I harassed him… like… bro you just tossed the key and ruined 4 other peoples fun and time… and you are reporting ME? Whats worse is Blizz’s report system is so bad hes right… he can report me even though he was the one that should have been reported.
It’s just insane to me how this game and the report system works… it punishes good players and caters to bad players.
This is why I will never be onboard with leaving key penalties.
People who play like dog water and I don’t mean an honest to goodness oops that doesn’t happen again after the first time should not be able to hold you hostage in a key. And all the whispers afterwards don’t help either, heh.

So to comment on the lust thing it’s a genuine question. I don’t want to say anything and typically just send boss unless it’s mentioned. Some groups prefer a big lust pull and others just go without and send on boss. I know I know, Ingra damage amps but some groups really care if it’s on trash. So just answer the question if they ask.
Tremor most people don’t care about because its used so infrequently people forget to take it. In fact, I remember getting flamed for not tremoring Ingra by the other shaman without the talent even though I used it twice. They just assumed I didnt use it because healer couldnt heal anything and I couldnt get the third fear (because a DPS died…). I keep Dispel/Tremor/Poison in my default loadout so i dont forget them in a given dungeon xD
The healing is a problem for sure though, and is a problem with tons of healers. They just don’t know how to heal that well. I personally dont care if the healer isnt doing damage if I am not dying, but if you arent doing that AND doing no damage then you are being a burden. Its just kind of a mix bag with pugging though.
Disagree with this mentality though. He was probably just responding, also assuming certain WeakAura usage is insane to me. I will use a WA if its one that requires the whole team to use it, but I know its crutch because some people are “bad” and need something for a basic task. Don’t get me wrong, he sounded bad but I think expectations like WA usage is not the way to go.
Also, if you said nothing overly bad you shouldnt worry about a report from one guy.
My friend I do keys with just got perma banned 2 weeks ago and had to start over… the email said he was banned for saying and i quote “You should unplug your keyboard, you would be better at the game”
So blizz does ban for dumb things because its mostly all automated.
I put this down to whoever invited hims fault. We have tools like IO and logs to see if someone is boosted or carried. Use the tools available to you to avoid these situations.
He has gone threw multiple suspensions in order for this to happen and as you said yourself he clearly said
Of course if he was reported that would result in a punishment. You don’t even need an automated system any person looking at the ticket would reach the same conclusion.
i am that resto shaman, im sorry for throwing your key! cost me $500 to reach 2700io
Telling someone they suck in a game should NEVER be something that is punishable… that’s pathetic beyond pathetic.

I didn’t make the rules but your friend agreed to them and that’s all that matters. Don’t like the rules, don’t agree to them.
Thats okay my new rule is whenever im in a key with a bad player im just going to stand in every mechanic and toss the key even farther then they are so they can deal with it like I have too… that seems to be blizzards way so if you cant beat em then join em.

Well that sounds super mature.
Or just take the two seconds to look at someone’s IO history and never have that problem
Blizz wants to protect and encourage people who suck and toss keys then this is the environment they are creating. so ill just join in… they want it that way apparently

I’ll repeat… that’s very mature.
