So I boosted a character today, fully geared it and got it ready for some low level mythic plus, and come to find out that I cant enter the Grimrail depot instance. Not sure as to why other than it says “recently boosted characters cannot enter legacy instances, try again tomorrow”. Not sure why this is a thing and i think its mostly a bug, but just wanted to know what or why this is.
It’s a way to stop botters from just boosting a character then speedrun them through instanced content for quick and easy gold.

This seems like a bandaid fix to that problem though, You should be able to screen someones account before going through that sort of fix. I have 3 level 60’s including the one i boosted. this obviously isnt a bot situation.
If it prevents someone from zoning into an instance for current content, that would actually be an unintended behaviour of the legacy instance blocker, and therefore a bug. It’s an artifact of that fact that you’re technically zoned into a legacy instance until the keystone is activated, which is a new situation to this season that the anti-botting mechanism doesn’t account for. That’s what a bug is.
This would also be solved if they had max-level characters zone into a Mythic-0 version of the instance prior to keystone activation.

I ran into this problem on my monk in anything legacy related.
I actually opened a ticket about it too - the answer was of course saying that they can’t do anything about it

No false. Bots dont do that tactic. You get way more gold soloing old content than you do from going in a group of 4 other people in current content where you have to share it all.
It is actually to stop account sellers from booting a toon up on a brand new toon, new account, then running that toon to get full mythic + gear and then selling that toon with the full set of M+ gear. It is to stop boosted toons from being able to do that.
And there is ZERO reason why any boosted toon should be running in a Mythic at all anyways. That would require a hard carry anyways to do and most people aren’t going to want that to be taking place. Lots of other MMOs restrict booted toons from going into end game content.
That is the reasoning behind it, still seems kinda silly though. More like an excuse than an actual legit reason.
The OP couldn’t go into Grimrail period. Grimrail on mythic is still legacy content. Mythic + is what makes it current but you need to be inside the dungeon to make it mythic +. You can’t make it mythic + if you can’t enter the dungeon.
The game doesn’t go, “oh you intend to make this into a mythic + key, okay you can enter this old dungeon”.
The limitation is there to protect players from themselves.
I wouldnt label this as ZERO reason, lol. You can get a newly boosted toon to roughly 240 ilvl fairly easy with sandstone relics and anima, along with the ability to transfer legendary crafting reagents and Catalysing to get 4 piece. a m0- m2 is entirely possible at that level.
What are you even talking about? Anyone’s boosted alt can be mailed 3k Sandworn Relics to buy up 246’s in all those slots, loot some Fated gear, World Boss, craft their 2 Legendaries, whatever, and be in a position to step into +2 without being “carried” in a few hours. They might not be getting into +15’s on day 1, but that’s a perfectly appropriate starting point for entry-level Mythic+.

I find battlegrounds to be a really good source of gear. It’s possible to have a char 12-15 ready within a few days of reaching maximum level, although you’ll only realistically have access to pug groups as tank or healer.
Also kind of missing valor (and conquest) boxes right now. 
You could have just said, “Oops, you’re right, I didn’t think of that. Thanks for correcting a flaw in my argument.” Why did you opt instead for an irrelevant comment about a character title and mog?

Just enjoy the current setup we got here in retail. DF talent set up. Just copied my pally into there and wow. omg. Yea. I think I will stick to playing Wrath. You go enjoy your Dragon Flight. Why did they remove so many of our abilities and make them into talents? And then BoJ on ret is T1 only choice so you cant NOT choose it. Then Divine Storm is also a talent now. Like you dont select it on T2 then you dont get an ability that has been there since Wrath.
And copy in Kyr pally, DT still works fine. Necro pally is my main pally… maybe a glitch cuz I had 0 Necro abilities able to use. Exorcism now a talent. Probs wont be playing DF then. Ill just stick to Classic. They still think they have to nerf and remove everything and put it into talent trees. Enjoy your retail. They go out of their way to change the entire game every time they launch a new expac now.
No longer a continuation of what we had before. Its like a brand new game every time we get an expac now. And then your name is in the centre of the screen. bottom left right above the action bars. No longer on the top.
Retail is super fun and great. Keep playing a game that isnt even World of Warcraft anymore. I will go log into CLASSIC. and play World of Warcraft. Also cant right click and copy character name by viewing them. Can only do that from chat now.

Yeah, they’re boa and can be converted into tier. Pretty weak, but a decent way to get an alt started and there’s nothing else to do with them except collect (LFR) appearances.

Not a bug. It has been very clear for years that the best means of selling services for real money was to boost a char and have your way. Any other view is an uneducated opinion on the subject.
