For two days i’ve been camping Tanaan Jungle for Terrorfist, Deathtalon, Vengeance, and Doomroller with a boosted toon and I have yet to see any of them. My question is will these rares spawn on a boosted toon who hasn’t done any WoD quests?
I think those rares are tied to what part of the Tanann Jungle you are one.
I’m 99% sure that the entirety of Tanaan Jungle is not available until you unlock the level 3 Garrison, then unlock the Shipyard questline, then sail to Tanaan and do the introductory quests to establish the town there.
I can fly there via Ashran. All the normal rare spawns are there. Just haven’t seen the 4 with mounts.
CRZ/sharding can foul those up. If you get moved while you’re there you could get moved to one where they already spawned.
Those four have a random low frequency spawn, so you can’t expect to see them as you pass by. (And a 120 can one-shot one, so if one does spawn it won’t last long anyway.)
The strategy for those four is to wait for a zone-wide shout and haul butt to where it spawns (and hope it’s still alive when you get there).
IF a blue could just tell me what I need to unlock in WoD to make these start spawning would be super.
Sorry, but a Blue isn’t going to comment on that or tell you anything like that. Reason being it falls under game hits that Blues here nor GMs are unable to give.
well then i guess a blue needs to delete this thread then if its going to be useless
No one said it was going to be useless. It just isn’t going to play out how you want it to, due to falling under something employees are forbidden to divulge.
How long have you been camping them? I didn’t do much with WoD because I came back just as it was transitioning into Legion, but they all have a chance to drop a mount, so they’re highly sought after.
If you can see the normal rares in the zone, it stands to reason that you can see the champions, too.
The guide Rufflebottom linked covers everything that can be unlocked in Tanaan.
I’ve gotten them just in the course of doing daily quests.
Those rares are heavily camped. Many people just park themselves at a mid-point between them and just wait for the unique zone wide shout each one does when they spawn.
Also, there is an item (can’t remember the name) that will teleport you to a nearby rare. The upgraded version works for the champions.
With everyone being 120, a zone-wide shout, quick teleport, and it’ll be dead in a few seconds. My advice would be to ask in chat if anyone is farming them and see if you can group up.
Hunter's Seeking Crystal is from Honored with the Order of the Awakened.
Master Hunter's Seeking Crystal is from Revered.
FWIW, there’s nothing you need to do to “unlock” them. They spawn when they spawn, and you have to get there with a quickness immediately after the spawn or you’ll miss out.
But they are potentially present the first time you motor into Tanaan Jungle (after the opening scenario, that is). My new-minted DH grabbed a kill after taking the portal from Ashran the first time after dinging 120, with no quest progress at all.
I finally boosted a character on a low population RP server just to farm rares. It was a mage, of course, so I could teleport to places like Warspear without having to unlock them.
It seemed pretty clear to me soon on that these rares aren’t going to spawn because the Blood Moon thing wasn’t showing on the map and it’s almost always there on a Normal (non-RP) server.
Yep, you’re just going to have to park an alt there on the main server you play on and use your boosted character to farm other mounts.
I posted this on Wowhead, but I also wanted to post it here in case anyone is lost:
People are having a difficult time pinpointing when the four Tanaan champions unlock. I can give some helpful information that can help pinpoint it down a bit.
My main and all the alts I play are on the same server, a Normal (non-RP) server. These rares aren’t up for long and you usually have to wait, and so, like a lot of players, I boosted an alt on a low-pop RP server for the purpose of farming rares. When I did that, I notice these guys weren’t up. So, I transferred one of my alts from my main server to this server, yet they suddenly were never up. That tells me that more than likely whatever is unlocked is based on something you did on what character and on the server you’re on and not account-wide.
So, on the alt I boosted, I not only did the WoD intro and the Tanaan intro, but I cleared some of the quests back at Lion’s watch and went back to my garrison and upgraded it a bit. When I went back to Tanaan to check, three champions were up at the same time (you never see this on a Normal server) and I got to all of them. I can’t be sure at what point the champions unlocked, but I can tell you it’s well worth it to do all of this rather than waiting. It’ll take you maybe five or so hours total.
(Also, as a side note, the GMs aren’t necessarily going to know either. This is something the devs would know, and the devs aren’t the GMs.)
