Boosted a character to 120, can i unlock allied races with it?

So i play alliance for the most part, but with the rep boost coming i decided i was going to give horde allied races a try to atleast get them unlocked, so since i pre ordered shadowlands i decided to use my 120 boost for this so i picked an old lvl 85 orc i had and i boosted her to 120, and ive been grinding rep for a few days, until it dawns on me that i actually need questing achievements to get the unlock, but with a boosted character, the game assumes you did a bunch of quests so the starting questlines are gone so i cant start them and the achievements arent given to me. So, did i waste a 120 boost and 4 days of my life for nothing?

Hello and welcome to Moon Guard. I assume this was intentional! While assume this was meant for Customer Support, I shall test on my own boosts and see how to fix this.

So all I had to do on one of my boosts is go to the Scouting Map to start the quest chains.

It’s an okay place, dun worry. It makes sense to ask as someone might have run into the same problem as you, and know how to fix it. Actually, the answer interests me as well as I did the opposite. I play Horde and boosted one of my Alliance toons. I haven’t tried to unlock anything yet, but I could very well run into similar problems as you.

If it is a bug or oversight though then yeah, you may have to contact customer support. Although hopefully Gaeia’s advice worked for you.

In answer to the general question, if you unlocked the reps for Lightforged or Void Elves on a Horde character, yes, your boosted 120 can unlock and play those races. Just go to the lil quest giver guy at the gathering place in Stormwind to do their intro. The same is true vice versa for Horde characters and unlocking Highmountain/Nightborne.

For the other allied races, their reps are listed seperately, so you will have to physically level up those reps first before being able to unlock them for that faction. ALTERNATIVELY, you can faction change a character that is already exalted, and since the reps swap over, you will be able to immediately proceed with unlocking that faction’s races. Hope that helps!
