Quick question. Do you guys ever or often or never hit radiance midway in your Boon in M+? You can but you lose damage.
If you do do you only do it sometimes?

You should be fine if you weave it in.
I personally activate Boon and my rotation is Ascended Blast, Ascended Nova x2, repeat or I use a single higher damaging ability instead of Ascended Nova x2 inbetween the Blasts.
Never unless absolutely necessary (aka party will wipe otherwise, which is rare since they’ll be completely topped off for the first half of the boon anyway). The damage is too precious and Radiance’s cast time will cost you an Ascended Blast no matter what. I always radiance before Boon though.
If you’re a true gamer you can take Evangelism into your Mythic dungeons. Evangelism after the radiance and then Boon. You’ll get full atonement usage of the boons like that. Hardly necessary though. Bit of a mix at the high end of keys as to whether people take Lenience or Evangelism.
It depends on the situation. If I can avoid it I don’t but if the group is taking thicc aoe damage (think mask mons in DOS) then I will.
Normal boon
Blast, novax2, repeat.
Thicc aoe boon
Blast, nova x2, radiance, Blast, novax2
Often times I’ll weave a pw:shield in lieu of the nova so that I can attonement someone who has started taking damage.
With Boon, here is what I am seeing sometimes. I do a radiance cast, then hit boon. Then before I have stopped my casts atonement drops and then a melee dies sometimes.
I am not always sure why this is happening, and it only tends to happen on high keys when melee are getting one shot. It’s like the tank is not getting aggro or something.
Regardless, a few times I tried dropping a barrier first, then dropping radiance, then hittiing Boon, but it seems a bit laborious and a waste of barrier.
To sum it up, what I see sometimes is when you Boon for a big pack on a high key sometimes people die. I’m not sure of how to get around this. After boon is done sometimes mobs are still up, and doing their thing. Obviously the skill of the dps and tank in your group are factors. What I mean is, does the tank have aggro? Are dps missing interrupts? Are people assuming that when the healer Boons they can not do their jobs? I mean there are a host of possible factors that are causing this.
So the question is (on high keys), what do you do? Do you assume all pug groups lack skill so stop halfway through your Boon to do a radiance cast? Do you waste your PI on yourself so that you can do your casts faster–hence making getting a radiance in more possible?
I’m not sure of rapturing before you Boon, but have tried it thinking the stronger shields might have some benefit, but then the atonement on the group drops off at varying times vs one time.
Anyhow, if anyone has any thoughts of how to stop these people from dying the second atonement drops (or a bit later) that would rock. On some packs my instincts are just flashing red, and I’m thinking “Do not boon at all on big packs” as a result. But that is just silly.
Yes. If my team is in danger after taking damage, or in preparation for incoming damage, I will cast Radiance in the middle of boon (preferrably between Ascended Blast’s.)
Boon is, of course, a great cooldown for Damage output. But squeezing in two extra Ascended Nova’s at the cost of your DPS’s defensives or lives is never worth it.
It is usually best to plan out your boon window before activating the cooldown. If you’re expecting your team to take damage during your boon window, applying atonement to all party members via Shadow Mend or Shield is usually enough to cover the majority, if not the entire duration, of Boon of the Ascended. If the threat is more immediate and you didn’t plan it out beforehand, a Power Word: Radiance before using Boon will suffice. If your atonements fall off during boon and your team is still at risk of taking significant damage, do not hesitate to cast Radiance during your cooldown.
The only time you would not bother casting radiance or applying any atonements before or during your Boon would be times where there is absolutely no risk of your team taking significant damage in the next 15 seconds. That said, during high keys, you’re usually better off sitting on Boon’s cooldown for a bit in order to have it available for more dangerous moments in an encounter. For example, when fighting Mistcaller in Mists of Tirna Scithe, it may be tempting to use your Boon as it comes off cooldown purely for DPS as there is no risk of incoming damage for a large portion of the fight- but in many cases it’s much more effective to sit on your boon for a dozen seconds or so in order to have it up during her images phase.
