Boon of the zookeeper enchant: does it still work?

Hi there folks!

I’m trying to get shiny pet charms and did a bit of reading, eventually landing on the boon of the zookeeper that is sold in legion dalaran. I bought a low level shoulder to apply it to and donned it before going out to kill things for an hour and didn’t get a single pet-centric drop, currency or package.

Has this item been nullified? It shows the enchant applied to the shoulders I’m wearing and it’s not greyed out or anything like that.

If it’s no longer operable, what’s the best way to farm the orphaned currency?

Thanks for your time!

It should work, but it will only work in Legion zones and may not work on level 60 toons. I haven’t checked and tested myself. Hope that helps. I recommend checking the Wowhead comments (most recent, highest rated) for people who have checked it out themselves and what they have to say.

I tried the boon of the blood-hunter looking to get more blood of sargeras… after 9 hours I got 1 satchel… it still ~works~ but its definitely been nerfed to the ground… assume all “item granting” stuff like that has been scoured from the game for too much ~fun detected~

Thanks very much to both of you for the help. I was trying it in Legion content(both dungeon and open world) but never got a drop when using on a lvl 60 character.

I simply can’t fathom trying to farm the thousands of the currency for the legion pet purchases.

According to Wowhead comments after talking to a GM:

Works only in Legion Zones for characters under 60. It does work if you are time walking through the Legion content.

Ahh, I missed that, that’s too bad. It’s not that I don’t like Legion but looking at altoholic, of the 30+ toons I leveled through the content, I don’t have enough of the charms to purchase a single pet or toy from the vendor. It seems like the sinkiest of time sinks and not something added to the game to make it more enjoyable. If I’m witnessing the best drop rate(which is close to 0 per hour), I don’t think it’s possible to get those items that require the charms.

You’re looking at it from trying to do it now. It wasn’t added now. It was added during current content and wasn’t a grind. We had pet charms galore back then. And from Warlords.

So legion pet dailies can be done on all your alts every day

Find an easy daily that rewards 20 charms and just do that daily on 10 characters for an easy 200 charms

You can also get 40 shiny charms from legion class hall missions if you roll the bonus

You can do the same with shadowlands pet dailies and those charms for quick instant level 25 stones (their price was reduced this expansion to only 35 charms per)

< didn’t mean to edit, sorry >

It can be manipulated by playing until you get 2 drops then relog in about an hour.

In legion content.

Most of those legion shoulder enchants were near worthless.

Did you do the pet battle quests? And the ones in Draenor, as well?

Right now, this is up on Broken Isles:

The first comment under “highest rated” also gives a breakdown of what you can get in Warlords:

That’s very helpful, thank you for that. I think even with farming on all my alts and dedicating my entire play time to the process, it will take me quite a bit of time to get enough of the currency, I’ll do a bit more googling and try to find someone that’s documented the process with an eye on minimizing it.

Thanks again!
