Boomy troubles

anyone else feeling frustrated with balance? ( from a mythic plus/ raid perspective)
I feel like the spec has 1. too long ramp time
2. spenders hit like wet noodles
3. steller flare? jeez
4. the tier bonus contradicts ST playstyle ( given you take incarn which keeps you into alinment for 30 seconds which inherently locks you out of the 4 pc bonus during your only burst window.
5. 2pc bonus is hot garbage ( the only reason to take it, is for the 4 pc)

Regarding mythic +, I can run cleave build and every couple pulls I am competitive in dps, but other specs are consistently hitting high dps while I struggle to keep up.

Lol. Why yes, yes we are frustrated.

There’s a lot of forums on here detailing our complaints about Balance spec, which you may have not seen, but they are very in-depth.

Fundamentally, most people do not like that they’re leaning super hard into making Balance a DoT and rot spec. We play more like Affliction Warlocks now rather than “Boom”kins. The new Mastery is insulting lol.

Also the Eclipse system is such a total disaster and many people do not enjoy it.

Most of what you said is accurate…however, LMAO, on the eclipse statement you are in the 0.001% that doesn’t like the eclipse changes.

Being able to choose what eclipse you are in everytime is the best change they’ve made to balance.

I’ve been reading the heck out of these forums the last few days, and most people do not like the Eclipse system in general. They all say how Blizzard changes it every expansion almost because it’s a broken mechanic that they can’t figure out what to do with. I guess it’s anecdotal to say that, but I’m not out here with my scientific statistical data. You can take it or leave it if you don’t agree. All I can say is actually read what people are saying.

Having to spam 2 wimpy Wrath casts to get into a Lunar Eclipse is really weird. Same with spamming 2 Starfires to get into a Solar Eclipse (which we don’t even want to do right now since Starfire casts are better DPS). So it’s all just a total mess.

I think that the new eclipse system is better than rotating thru lunar then solar.
However , its still a terrible system.

Nobody casts starfire to get into solar eclipse. The system is broken.

There is not one buttom press feels impactful.
The only impactful event is getting full moon procs.

Honestly, they could make a ton of improvements to the class.

For the current Eclipse system, I think they have it half right. With their direction, I think Eclipse would benefit from working like Ravenous Frenzy from Shadowlands. Giving you clearer direction to either stay in Lunar or Solar Eclipse and extending the duration and damage amp of those Eclipses VIA spending Astral Power. And in addition to that, if you do not have CA running there would need to be a way to exit your current and switch to the opposite one if you need.

With the current design-wise, it feels like they want you rotating between Eclipse but also staying in the same Eclipse which feels contradictory. But that is just my thought on it. Talents wise I could see some redesigns and quality of life improvements.

It does feel contradictory. The whole spec does.
To be quite honest, it feels like it was one of the last class designs and they just threw some new ideas at it without actually playing it. Its a very unforgiving spec to play and doesnt feel impactful whatsoever.

Exactly. It’s like Blizzard wanted to make Balance a DoT heavy spec this expansion (which no one asked for and most people don’t want), while we still have the Astral Power spending mechanics from past iterations of the spec.

It all mixes together in a clunky mess of you needing to put your DoTs on everything (new Mastery literally now fully requires this for full DPS benefit), then getting into your Eclipse state, and before your DoTs fall off, maybe get a couple Starfire casts into a Starsurge or New Moon/Full Moon cast, before you’re right back to putting up all of your DoTs again and getting back into Eclipse… again.

It’s like the spec is pulling you in 3 different directions at once. It’s not even complicated to play once you get used to it, it’s just actually mechanically clunky and a total mess. Like it doesn’t know what it wants to do.

Personally in my perfect world, I’d prefer our only DoT to be Moonfire at this point (literally delete Sunfire and Stellar Flare), our Mastery gets changed again to something more interesting and not DoT related, and we go back to being more bursty with our Starsurges and such again.

20k starsurges are not doing it for me.
Its not complicated, it just doesnt make much sense.
My best spell is a trinket on a 2 minute cd which does 5x the damage of my starsurges.
Balance has zero burst, coupled with poor sustain, and overall a poor class.
I have raided on every expansion with different characters and this expac I cant seem to get ahead in terms of dps
