So im switching to druid for s2 as my guild wants a boomy for raid and i had a druid alt i was considering playing anyways.
Looking at rotations and other guides i am a bit confused.
It seems like for single target you want to be in lunar all the time but you always cast wrath anyways. Is this right?
Outside of Incarn, yes currently (unless things change for next season, haven’t watched the updates for Boomie).
Reason being, Lunar gives the bonus to Arcane (so Starsurge and I believe Starfall both) but you want the fast cast time of Wrath to be gaining your AP quicker to get more spenders
Ok that was the assumption i came too but wanted to make sure. There are a lot of buffs/modifiers happening im trying to figure out what all they do for optimal rotation but it really seems like im over complicating it.
Keep dots up, keep lunar up, spen Ap so i dont over cap it = profit.
Yup! DoTs are a big thing to benefit from mastery (increased damage to Nature for mobs with Sunfire and increased damage to Arcane for mobs with Moonfire).
Lunar Eclipse for spenders
Incarn double dips so you get both Lunar and Solar eclipse
But even then doesnt seem like the rotation changes its just buffed during the cd.
The reason you use Wrath and enter Lunar Eclipse regardless of the situation is because it takes a second or two less to enter an Eclipse (depending on if you precast as an Eclipse ends). Yes, that’s it.
The benefits of the VotI 4p tier set, and talents that benefit on entering an Eclipse like BoaT make such counterintuitive things an actual DPS gain. Additionally, the heavy-hitting abilities like Starsurge/Starfall don’t care what Eclipse you are in.
It’s possible with the nerfing of the VotI 4p tier in 10.1 along with other changes that Eclipse priorities will change, but not likely.
Perhaps that’s what it was! Thanks! Spenders are “astral” aren’t they? Not so much arcane
Yes they are astral which i assume is arcane and nature class.
The big thing about spenders being Astral is that they benefit from both Arcane and Nature damage improvements, i.e. both parts of the Mastery, which is why all the rotation guides say to maintain Sunfire and Moonfire as the highest priority above all else.
It’s also what makes the “you are in both Eclipses” for Celestial Alignment/Incarn relevant.
This is the website associated with the druid discord server Dreamgrove:
It offers great analysis of 10.1 changes, along with all kinds of rotation information afterwards.
Great ill check it out when i get a chance. I did see patchnotes and saw buff after buff and i was like “ooh spicey!”
Buffs are really just sort of making up for the fact that Boomy is losing a very OP tier set. I think they’ll be very middle of the pack in raid, really good at M+ if you are doing 20+ keys, and absolutely suck at lower end content, as usual.
That said, I love the theme and the spell effects. And really enjoy the rotation. Just wish it was a bit more casual-friendly.
Yea messing with the rotation and seeing things proc has been very fun and interesting. I especially like the little dog that flies out on starsurges.
ive not been paying attention to the changes but
yeah theres a talent that gives you damage when you enter an eclipse. 2x wrath is quicker than 2x starfire and the benefit of casting wrath in solar isnt worth vs the damage gain for higher eclipse uptime staying in lunar.
this meant the single target was pressing a lot of wrath! (aside from umbral procs)
keep your dots up, stellar flare is a bit funky as in “normal” pack sizes you want to keep it up but in very large packs (like AA tree room) theres no point stellar flaring the little plants but you should SF the larger mobs. But sunfire/moonfire are always up regardless of pack size. Also the fungal growth debuff counts towards dot count.
in m+ theres also pulsar which you can manage or just yolo and then look silly in incarn running between packs because you procced it as the last thing in the pack died.
i dont raid as boomie.
naguura makes good boomie vids.
