So I went back to Drainor on my mage to do the quest there and noticed that all the bonus objectives do not work. I then noticed how little actual quests there are to do and how fast I could get it completed. Maybe it’s just me but I feel the story in-game is getting smaller with each expansion and they give us stuff like bonus objectives or side quest to fill in what little content is available.
Strange, the bonus objectives worked for me.
And I disagree with the idea that the game is getting smaller. BFA had so many quests in the zones that I refused redo them all on my alts. Even the main story line was a good amount of quests.
But I guess it’s all subjective.
They are not working for me yesterday or today. I saw some posts saying it is a known problem no ETA on a fix.
Yup.
-Pathfinder and increased mob density hides that worlds have become smaller and more cramped.
-WQs instead of dailies recycle quests you used to level without writers having to create a new landmass to serve as a questing hub OR figure out any new lore.
-Bonus objectives are thinly-veiled straight up early 2000s style old school MMO mindless mob grinding.
It’s pretty obvious they’re cutting corners everywhere.
They have been pretty transparent about wanting to remove flying from the game and they do not design zones with flight in mind…that’s why they added pathfinder. Hopefully this doesn’t surprise you.
The amount of individual world quest far exceeds the amount of static daily quests from old xpack. BFA added 2 new land masses with additional quests.
Grinding has been a key part to MMOs since they were created. All MMOs have grind tasks, even modern ones…like WoW.
It’s not really that obvious. If you look at the forums, they are adding to much (e.g. covenants, legendary items, power grinds)…which is the opposite of cutting corners everywhere.
Then why does Pathfinder come with such a drop in zone quality? Why do we have to endure trash like Argus and Nazjatar?
Quantity does not equal quality. Do you really prefer running the same WQ 500 times without any semblance of story because an NPC says “kill boss he bad” via Azerothian Bluetooth without any story whatsoever? Did you not care about the time and effort the Blizzard of ages past put into writing the Netherwing, the Mantid, etc? Personally, I feel like it’s an insult to write off those dailies. It was a grind, but they at least tried.
Grinding was always a part of MMOs, yes, but again there is a lack of effort compared to ages past. Northrend through MoP had no need for bonus objectives. Vanilla and BC didn’t have them because they were older and still rooted in the pseudo EQ roots, where killing random overworld mobs WERE the bonus objectives. So this is WoW going straight-up backwards. Encouraging devolution.
I dunno, looks pretty corner-cutting to me…
I just found it so Odd with out the Bonus the zone was basically void so i am taking that is how they got people to explore and look for treasure another time gating wasting measure.
Side quests ARE story. Is this your first rpg?
Nope been playing since 2007 just noticing how things are getting smaller and more linear in play.
Smaller and more linear how? Number of quests? Number of raid tiers/bosses? Size of zones? Because you’d be wrong on all counts.
Not sure what your on but I do NOT consider Bonus Objective as Story.
Neither do I - those are exactly as the name said, bonuses.
But your OP also said sidequests, and those are demonstrably story.
