Bolvar had 8 years to weaken the scourge, why didnt he?

Why are scourge running rampant? Why have they not been thinned out? Will we have to kill bolvar? It look like he betrayed us or was it nerzhul sitting there all that time? The blue fire snuffing out the red flames seem to lean toward this. Bolvar seem to be free when sylvanas took off the helm.

Because the helm makes u evil lol he probs didn’t want to

I believe the plan was for Bolvar to use the Scourge to defend Azeroth if the Legion returned… which the Ebon Blade did not approve of. This is why the DKs serve as Bolvar’s champions in Legion; their service means he wouldn’t unleash the Scourge on the Broken Isles to roflstomp the Legion threat.

Well, I always wondered why the red dragon flight didn’t just go on a torching spree since we know that kills them. Blizz just wanted to keep them around for us to level up alts on during the upcoming pre-expansion event

Because he stopped and thought for a moment. It’s kind of handy having an army of undead slaves, but Bolvar isn’t really good or evil. He keeps the Scourge contained as promised, but beyond that he’s still the master of the place and accepts that role. The blue was him respeccing to frost.

He’s going to be a major figure we work with in Shadowlands. The Khadgar of the expansion I think.

We’ve been killing the scourge forces since bolvar took over. Forsaken starting area has you killing the remnants and the quests in eastern plaguelands you are mopping up a pocket of the scourge forces in the Eastern Kingdoms.

So how could there be rampant scourge event?

You try doing things when there’s another voice in your head always telling you to go kill everyone.

ummm…
The legion invasion probably?

Ohhh no. This feels like the basis for another “Sylvanas did nothing wrong and is actually the hero the whole time” argument.

At this point? Probably something like he see into shadowlands and want to protect ICC from jailer. As ICC is the connection to the maw.

was too busy doing the Watermelon Crawl

Well, it depends on the extent of his power as Lich King.

He might be the commander of the scourge, but that might not mean he can do anything he likes. Maybe he’s more like a CEO.

Yes, Lich King, CEO of The Scourge Corp™, running the biggest, deadliest show on the planet.

Doesn’t mean CEO can say ‘all right folks, time to close up shop. we’re closing our doors!’ and every department will do as he says.

the way I understand once the LK was created Azeroth was permeated with death magic in a scale never seen before, without someone holding its leash this energy/force would create undeads willy nilly and those undeads would just rampage everywhere, so killing said undeads don’t really matter because the energy is already rampant

Is my theory that the Legion tapped into the Jailers power to create the LK and now that the helm was destroy its possible that the energy has somewhere to go after we killed the undeads instead of just staying in Azeroth

The scourge event is happening because Sylvanas beat up Bolvar and broke the helm. There is no Lich King. That’s why the scourge are going rampant.

There is also the long lost story of the LK (Even Arthas LK) knowing that the Old Gods were a serious threat. It was a discarded story in the WOTLK, but was mentioned somewhere, that he was fighting Yogg’s forces. Not on our side, maybe his death side.

Bolvar was supposed to be a continuation of that story. Hints of him building an army and making a play was just…abandoned. Maybe Shadowlands will come back around to the Void Lords threat. It would make sense knowing that Bolvar is going to be a major player, and that the Void is the next big threat.

The big issue, would be if it was Sargeras that had the LK instated, instead of Kil’jaden. If it was Sargeras, it would make sense, weaken Azeroth, then destroy her to prevent corruption, kill Old Gods. But we have KJ that sent the LK, it makes it the story that only has for Legion domination.

But retcons can happen, seeing as we have two LKs who were actively building armies with motives that were to fight the OGs (One that was directly implied, and the other assumingly)

Why do you belive he didn’t? Maybe he did and that’s why we’d be able to defeat them in SL pre-patch

Excuse me, I’m like, RIGHT here.

From what I understand it’s all he could to just to keep them under control and dormant. He was constantly fighting the influence of the helm trying to make him into another Arthas and using the Scourge to take over the world. Finer control like say having them fight and kill each other to thin out the ranks would have put him at too great a risk of giving in to the helm and becoming full on evil.

Well the reasonable answer would be that they can be used as a shield or deterrent against anyone looking to take the crown from him and use it for nefarious purposes.

but of course we all saw the cinematic didn’t we. He didn’t make a reasonable choice.

So the real answer is: to give us a pre launch event
