Bnet Agent crashing when initializing fresh install

I have been trying to install retail WoW all evening, and the battle.net agent is continuously crashing and restarting the “initializing” step of the download. I have done a clean uninstall and reinstall several times now, clearing temp, localappdata, programdata, etc each time, and still cannot get past the same download initialization.

When it happened, there was no error displayed, but I did see the BlizardError.exe run, so I looked for the crash reports, and found them in ProgramData. This is the most recent crash log: https://pastebin.com/Fjk2PsNL

It appears to be an unknown exception, and although I am a software developer myself, I am not familiar enough with the application to make good sense of the debug logs in the crash log:

C++ Exception: yes
Exception is std::exception: yes (message: bad allocation)

I had the exact same issue as you’re describing. To fix it, I simply exited the bnet launcher and ran the bnet installer again (download the latest in case this was a recent fix). When I opened the launcher it could download again.

Note, I did not uninstall the launcher before running the installer again.

I have the same issue. I have been taking it as a sign that I shouldn’t come back to wow for dragonflight. I downloaded and installed MW2 fine, but Wow has been hanging on initializing. I have uninstalled everything, removed all folders, files, etc related to WOW and battle.net and try to reinstall, same results. I bet I dont get credit for the days I cant play with my new subscription. I try over the next day or so, but I think I will take this as a sign and stay away from WOW.

Bump same issue. Fresh download copy of retail WoW, fresh install of battle.net. The game refuses to download. Do you people NOT want my money?

Bump, also cannot fresh install WoW.

Have Deleted Appdata, Have scrubbed Battlenet Completely, have reinstalled Bnet, Have tried different user profiles, Different Drives.

Even downloaded it on a separate computer to verify my network was not blocking it.

Can download / Update classic, MW2, Diablo 2/3, Warzone, Overwatch.

just can NOT download WoW Retail.

This issue is still a thing. I finally convinced my friend to play WoW for the first time and he simply can’t. Ive tried every solve that people have suggested but nothing seems to work. It just always gets stuck at Initializing. Seems to be a bug they just don’t seem to want to fix.

Friend of mine tried to come back to the game as well after I gifted a copy of DF, just for it to be stuck at the 0% initialization for the install. Sad to see all these reports for as long as they’ve been going on with no fix.

Love how not one has heard from Blizz regarding this issue. It makes me not even want to come back for DF

Has anyone found a resolution to this? Exact same thing is happening to me after the update today. I was able to get in the game and create my Dracthyr, but I was not able to finish the starting quest, NPC didn’t even show up. Logged out/in, didn’t fix it. Restarted my PC, didn’t fix it. Thought I’d try uninstalling/reinstalling the game… boy, I guess that was a mistake. Now I’m stuck at initializing, waiting for update, initializing, etc… Tried all the suggested troubleshooting, including uninstalling battle.net and the game, deleting the battle.net “tools” (ProgramData) folder/s, scan and repair, disabled security software, even tried installing it on another drive in the same computer. Funny thing is, my wife is playing in another room in the same house just fine, so it’s not likely a network issue. My game was working fine until the servers went down and came back up today.

Just coming back to provide an update. Restarting my router seems to have fixed the issue for me… strangest thing…

I have seen posts from 30 days ago about this issue. I purchased Dragonflight without looking to see if there were issues and couldn’t install it. Refunded it since I can’t play it.
