BM tank doing 1.5k dps at level 10

vs. level 45 enhance shaman doing 400ish dps. Every pull tank insta killing mobs. How is a level 10 with no so called power doing so much damage with AoE when most of the dps doesn’t even have an AoE spell until 20 levels later than a level 10 tank?
Are we back to the tank doing all the damage? With the dps doing nothing but waiting for cds? I’ve tried all the classes except for monk, they all feel weaker at higher levels.
How does this get by the beta?

Enchants, gems, twinking? How should we know? You’re the one in the group with him.

The prepatch didn’t include class balancing v as they are still (hopefully) working on it in beta.

it’s all relative. You have to remember that the lower level is probably doing 60 dmg a swing against a mob with 500 hit points. chromie time not serious business, so just have fun and let the fresh characters blow up the meters.

Exactly this. I’ve seen a level 10 BDK pull roughly 70% of the dps nearly every pull. I boiled it down to as we level up faster, our gear need also increases just as fast (although BDK does get death and decay at 10). Those just starting out - especially allied races at level 10 - are more equivalent to mobs than others are as they progress which leads to less power. It is what it is though.

I noticed this too and it is disheartening, but also who cares in a lvling dungeon?

Like if a tank was doing 5k dps and the rest of the group was barely breaking 1.2k then that might be a problem at 50.

But in a lvling dungeon it will balance out eventually. The only things I can see happening are: elitist tanks kicking dps because "you can’t even beat my dps and I’m a tank!’ Or tanks rolling into 50 (60) expecting to steam roll everything.

Cracks me up when you see a level 10 1 button rotation dominate a level 40 in dps.

It’s just level scaling. It evens out pretty quickly.

Touch of death maybe.

idk man, I’m keeping up on my warrior pretty well when it comes to gear because I am questing too. But she still feels super weak in dungeons. Idk how much gear effects it vs just being a lvl scaling thing.

First thing that comes to mind are those brrrr memes:

level 44: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YOU CAN’T JUST PRESS 2 BUTTONS AND DO 85% OF THE GROUP DMG!!!

level 11: haha moonfire go brrrrrr

I’m not sure on it either, it’s just something I’ve come up with to explain everything cause it is the one consistent variable in leveling. My SO had trouble keeping up with his warrior too, but now that he is maxxed out he is keeping up with others unless we’ve got a carry in HH. I’m sure it boils down to just level scaling, but it’d be nice to rationale another reason! It really catches up with you in the late 30s thats for sure. No issues on hunter, but what do you expect? Ele shaman has been fun but oh boy, when reality kicks in at max… time for resto!

I mean, it could be this but I forget what level monks get that at. Its like the one thing that keeps me even or ahead in groups as a MW rather than being slightly behind.

Yah you can still have a level 10 in ilvl 40-60 gear.
They haven’t fixed the legion pillar metas (gear).
They haven’t fixed the baleful gear. Go farm apexis and get baleful gear and twink your heart out.

It doesn’t help that even at 30, which is over half way to cap, fury doesn’t have their main aoe quirk with the splash damage. Like yeah I have whirlwind but that hits like a wet noodle.

Toolkits can be another cause, tanking specs seem to get their full damage toolkit quickly which results in lots of aoe abilities. Whereas dps have to wait awhile to get their full toolkit.

Yeah, I noticed that whirlwind was especially weak.

It definitely could be another cause. I wonder if blizzard was expecting something else and trying to boost tank damage early to balance out aggro or something? Who knows.

My guess it that it’s probably because they scale damage based on percentages and low level characters take more HP% per attack. Enemy HP must be scaling faster than player damage over the levels, combat slows down and so higher level players take less mob HP% per attack.

Because if they weren’t doing a good bit of damage they’d never be able to hold agro. They have like one ability at level 10.

Scaling

This. My level 15 dk tank is out dpsing everything in dungeons with death and decay.

Jump around and try and even out which targets you hit. Was like number 3 or so for group dps situations in a broken shore scenario last night before I had rank 3 whirlwind.

And then obviously a level 10 druid was number 1
