I am confused why some guides especially this WoWhead one tells me for an ST build to take sentinal owl and the talent below that. seems like wasted points. Sentinel owl provides LoS capability at the cost of placing it down and spending 150 focus per 1second at a 12s cap. If i were to LoS that would basically mean i’d LoS healer as well.
Also the talent below it provides LoS capability for the entire party but usually it would pull the boss towards you anyways unless tank is not LoSing but only works for attacks not heals. the other one grants 5%leech which is miniscule and only for a 12s duration which idk if amazing or not but given you run i think ferocity? it gives 10%/15% with talent assuming it stacks thats 15/20% for a 12s duration
I also don’t understand why it tells me to put 1 point into trail blazer which gives 15% run speed if not in combat for 3s which is somewhat useful but given we have Aspect of the Cheetah + disengage + posthaste rank 2 we shouldn’t even need this talent mobility isn’t a hunge hinderance especially for a ranged class and mobile dps even in a raid setting.
there just aren’t a lot of interesting, exciting, or good talents in the top two thirds of the Hunter class tree. You need to spend points to get to the bottom of the tree, and they have to go somewhere.

ahh i see i just crosschecked it with icyveins but yea seems kinda pointless talents imo so i just went the left side for now to get to the bottom more utility for dungeons at least
Eh, BM generally works fine in ST no matter what you do.
Sentinel Owl seems clunky to use. I don’t see most players ever maximizing it properly.
So if you don’t like it or feels off then don’t spec into it.
Pshaw. Trailblaze is amazing. As most of the game is solo play you’ll greatly appreciate the constant 30% movement speed (especially in no mount areas). Works well with Camo and Feign Death.
I don’t see the point in getting both points in the Disengage talent. One is enough for breaking snares. You don’t want to be constantly using it anyway as you’ll regret it when you actually need it due to its long cooldown
I use it for mobility compared to trailblaze which is good but i don’t find myself out of combat long enough for it to really benefit. i ended up just not taking sentinal it’s good when it is but unlike the SL version it doesn’t increase much besides leech which SL gives 30% crit.
might be good for M+ but idk i am just leveling rn if not mounted then almost always running Disengage/cheetah for speed boost.
i use sentinel owl a bit in raid but more because like asthelon said, there’s nothing much else to spend talent points on and 5% leech can help out healers a bit on predictable damage spikes. just because leech is functionally useless for pet classes doesn’t mean the other dps can’t make use out it i guess.
don’t worry it’s just as infinitesimally niche for SV and MM too
