I’ve noticed that when I’m attacking the dummies in Dornogal, as well as in some dungeons, when I apply hunter’s mark on a target, my main pet starts to automatically attack, when I have NOT cast them to attack, & I am also NOT attacking the target myself. This is especially concerning in M+ dungeons, where, as a hunter, I certainly do not want to be responsible for accidently pulling due to a bug.
This ‘auto-attacking’ by my pet seems to be inconsistent, & I’m unable to glean what the exact conditions are that cause this to only happen sometimes & not others. Thankfully, I’m pretty observant & have been able to pull back my pet before they attack (thus far), probably due to them being in ‘prowl’ mode & stealthed, but this needs to be addressed.
I wonder if the new ring citrine is causing it. Which gems do you have socketed in case that’s the issue? I’ve seen other posts about random mobs getting pulled with non-damage abilities or from far away, and have seen raid bosses getting pulled with nobody actually damaging them aside from crackling thunderlord ring procs. If that’s the case, they may need to hotfix the ring to not pull from non-damage abilities and/or mobs that are not in combat. I have not experienced this on my hunter yet, but have mostly done raids and open world content; I have stormbringer, fathomdweller, and skipper equipped.
Currently, I have the Stormbringer’s, the Fathomdweller’s & the Legendary Skipper’s socketed.
The first time this happened to me I was in DF LFR. I don’t usually raid, and as the group was prepping for the pull, I’d mark the boss and let my attention wander for a second until ready check- only to see comments telling the “hunter” to stop pulling the boss. It did not register it was me- I never saw my pet leave, I never attacked. Second marked boss, I saw my pet go in and I hadn’t right clicked or hit anything other than HM. Put pet on passive/stay. THEN Hunters Mark made ME auto shoot. ?!?! The only way I kept HM from auto attacking in that raid was to literally put my back to the mob and mark them. What a way to find out this bug existed! After 2nd boss, I stopped using it entirely to save the group (and myself!) the grief!
I’ve since had it happen 3 -4 other times, in dungeons, at random, once with a PUG, the other times with a full group of friends. The latest was a month ago, I believe, doing time-walking dungeons. And it wasn’t every boss. I was experimenting (full group were friends who knew I was having the issue) to try and figure out what was happening.
I can’t. Hunters Mark will, on occasion, at random, auto attack, for some hunters. Sometimes it’s my active pet, sometimes its a random pet from my stable (I’m assuming from
call of the wild?) comes running BACK to me after it auto attacked. Twice (over several months, mind you), Hunters Mark caused me to auto shoot.
I’ve seen comments from
Hunters about this issue as I’ve searched for a solution, and I’ve yet to see an explanation or a solution. Sketchy.
