So the title kind of explains the question. I have been purifying my stagger at like 75-100% is there a benefit to purifying at a higher amount? If so, what is that benefit?
You can purify at higher… but it is highly dependent on how much your healer can handle and what talents and gear you have… I personally have an alert set to purify at 80% but can sometimes go as high as 120% but usually not more than that…but having the bob and weave talent helps smooth it out so you can purify at higher levels… hope this helps
It takes some time to get used to, and is heavily dependent upon your group and how well you trust your healer. I’ve had times where I purified below 50% because I wasn’t getting any heals and was dying quickly, simultaneously I have been north of 150% and waited it out because I was close to full hp, had externals up, and I knew the healer was solid (and had plenty of mana).
I went void elf 95% because of no pushback on spells just so I can throw myself a vivify if I get desperate. I use it frequently with bad healers or grevious weeks.
There is just no set rule. There’s even a circumstance where you’d purfiy on cooldown (if fight was long enough and you were taking steady tick damage the whole time).
Its extremely situational, but basically i’d say if you dont need to purify, then dont.
Yeah, that’s really the premise. Never purify if it will cause you to drop your iron skin. Purify should be treated kind of like a major cd that is used sparingly and only when needed.
Think you should purify? Think about these things as quickly as possible.
How long do I have left on iron skin?
How many brew charges do I have active?
Do I generally trust my healer(s)?
Do I have any CDs–external or internal–rolling right now?
Am I going to take a big hit or a lot of damage soon?
Can I roll away and ring of peace/kite?
Should I roll away and ring of peace/kite?
Feel free to add your own stipulations and prioritize them to your satisfaction. You have a finite amount of time to determine if you should purify.
All that being said, if you’re deep into red stagger and are melting, yeah probably purify and think about rolling out for a second. Just don’t outrange your healer.
The only hard and fast rule is if purifying will cause you to let Ironskin fall off due to lack of available charges, then don’t. It’s far, far worse to be low stagger but without Ironskin up.
With the pushback thing tho, if you’re casting vivify, can you still dodge?
I don’t believe so. Chi burst specifically says that you can avoid damage while casting and vivify doesnt.
Full disclosure I only ever cast vivify in melee combat when I am in immediate danger of dying and I am out of options. That is to say, very rarely if ever. More accurately, I roll out and stand in ROP and spam heal myself. The pushback negation helps with ranged adds that are still hitting me.
Just did a KR 8 with a pug. Well placed ROP on bridge to second boss pretty much plugged the hole so I was able to escape and heal pretty effectively. If I would’ve tried to do thay in melee, I probably would’ve gotten it shoved in.
