BM Leveling talents?

Which talents do we run now?

Do we still take chimera shot?
Killer instance or dire beast
also stomp and aspect?

Could someone give me the typical 123 setup for each roll I havent played hunter since they got dumpstered in pvp back at the start of bfa

Do we spam barb when its up or try not to over lap 2 stacks? From what i remembered you tried to keep a stack always up and i hated that, has that changed?

Barb shot gives a stack of frenzy which is crucial to your dps output, so you should always try and refresh it at the last second possible to maintain up to 3 stacks of the frenzy buff on your pets. Never spam it

Don’t listen to Hadou. Animal Companion and One with the Pack are both trash for leveling. Take Killer Instincts and Scent of Blood. Animal Companion splits your pet’s dps so you lose like half of your leech, it’s worse for solo tanking than having no talents. One with the Pack is only good with high crit chance, which you won’t have.

Barbed Shot use is very different while leveling compared to boss fights. Since the encounters are shorter you don’t need to worry about refreshing Frenzy. You can hit Barbed Shots as much as you want then get 2 stacks from Scent of Blood by hitting Bestial Wrath. Then recover your Barbed Shot stacks out of combat. Of course if you’re fighting bosses then maintaining 3 stacks becomes important.

I have scent of blood but i was trying out dire beast and it seems to hit pretty hard. Stuff dies so fast as BM is killer instincts needed?

Dire beast is the preferred leveling talent.

For levelling I used Dire Beast, Scent of Blood, Trailblazer, Thrill of the Hunt, Posthaste, Stomp, and Aspect of the Beast. I wanted to maximise the AoE put out by a single pet to improve its survivability on huge pulls. In previous expansions I took Barrage for easy mass pulling but I figured with the AoE cap having that uncapped Stomp AoE is too much of a plus to ignore and it synergises with other talents really well.

For PvP talents I took Dire Beast: Hawk (seriously get this, it is probably our strongest ability period), Dire Beast: Basilisk, and Hunting Party.

my pet is dying easy wth? Im using the typical clefthoof. BM damage still good for leveling how is it at 60? Am i going to start running into trouble as MM at 55+?

MM on the other hand is killing everything before it even gets near me.

I’m using animal companion on my Hunter with zero issues.

Yeah, let’s pretend that leveling is hard. You could literally select any talent as a BM hunter and still breeze through the content. To say otherwise would be a lie.

Leveling is not hard. But Colvin is literally asking for advice, so why would you give the wrong advice?

Neither Icy Veins or Wowhead recommend Dire beast. Why do you think it’s better. I’m iLVL 152. Should I switch to Dire Beast and why? Thanks!

I still swear by Barrage for BM soloing. The damage it deals is pretty mediocre, but the ability to MD -> Barrage pull entire zones is amazing. The 8-target cap is per wave, so Barrage -> spin still pulls everything in sight.

Icy Veins guide is only for endgame, not leveling. Dire Beast should work perfectly fine too. It’s just that Animal Companion is bad for pet tanking, which makes it a bad choice.

Dire Beast isn’t terribly compelling even for leveling. Unless you just really want that talent, take Killer Instinct if you’re going to skip Animal Companion.

I was using Animal Companion but my pet was getting slaughtered by the level 3 Torghast boss so I switched to Killer Instinct. I haven’t tried it out yet on a levl 3 boss. Hopefully my pet will fare better.
